I've a suspicion that Vic's kitchen operates a take away service to anyone passing in a buggy - with or without a 'Beetle' badge !

wiper blades and inlet seals arrived so now running happily on 4 with forwards vision so it has been on the road but steering was not up to spec the box was at the end of the adjustment cam so a strip revealed worn and lumpy bearing seats, and there is a oil leak from the motor now it has done a few miles but only on initial start up for about  30 seconds then it stops so engine is coming out for a check on the cooler.

A potential buyer turned up and has fallen in love with Ruby as she calls it so going to a new home after bedding in tests once the later steering box is in and proved satisfactory but need to swap ball joints reset the tracking and make a steering stop set up,  get column connected as nothing plugs and plays column shaft is shorter and output is smaller diameter.

Saves me writing a sales pitch with all the new bits listed and work done

Ruby as the buggy is now called by the new owner has had her heart out once to check the cooler and it was fine so now after more use the feint oil smoke haze from the exhaust at idle is no better. Heart out and barrels off this morning and oil in the bores 3 seized oul rings and one broken lower compression ring. Oil leak was from 4 head joint and sealed as soon as the engine warmed a bit. Strange as compression tests cold They were 105 min to 115 max so all close. Engine is well gummed up through lack of servicing so needs A couple of low milage oil changes when in use.
New rings on order should be back together Tuesday pm if they arrive Early enough then the new owner should have loads of trouble free buggying.

Good work their Snoopy. New rings should help with the performance.

Now I see why Vickys JAS has a metal lid to the storage unit - to act as a shelf for filthy engine heads !
