Even by my standards this looks scruffy but KitCar has a soft spot for red buggy's so this buggy could yet get a center fold spread after your tidy up.

What unusual features does it presently have - nearly buggys are given body and engine modifications over their lives and I can see the this body has been cut about at the back but what exactly was it ?

Yes Paul once a buggy in any shape or form enters the curtilage of Keith & Vickys house its destiny is inevitable.

Bear that scene looks like a prankster dis assembled the buggy scattering the main parts, stole your m/c engine, stripped bear (no pun intended) the Bali Hut bar but left you one beer keg converted to a plant pot holder. spine is excellent pans are new but like a sieve as the seat frames have been drilled off so it may get some of the shortened buggy pans. naps hat ends need doing as well.

nurse Vicky has not been needed up to now as everything is manageable by me alone.
the new powder coated steering parts and ball joints will not fit as they are 1969 registration year not 64 chassis year so shiny parts for the jas or kango.

after 2 days grandson duty the naps hat ends are now new 2mm steel sheet and the rh pan is tacked into place but the 400mm cut out is further back as the new pand had been cut already.


the lh will take longer as I have 4 parts to match up tomorrow


engine has all the ancillaries and parts bolted back on just awaiting a flywheel oil seal then it is ready to fit whenever that is.
stripped the old carb expecting the normal dirt and crap, pleasant surprise the float chamber was spotless the first time ever on old carbs which have been off the motor

Drivers pan fits fine apart from about 30 8mm holes  the new box section frame is coming on because the pans are thin.
The new wire drive wheel for the mig has arrived so the welding can start in earnest.
May need a new pan for the passenger side although it is tempting to put a 2mm sheet steel floor in both sides

Decided on an easier life so not to bothering to weld up the left pan as a new one was only £67 and all it needs is 400 mm removed along with the outer lip then a simple welding job for a tidier finish.  Rivnuts had to be fitted as there were no captive nuts for the pedal shaft r/h bracket in the tunnel.
Also need to make some guide tubes to get the brake cables down and into the tubes in the tunnel as it looks like a mini handbrake welded on or cut the tunnel and make mountings for a beetle lever.

The gearbox was stuck in a gear and removal off the nose cone showed all selectors in neutral it turned over by hand with the clutch disk fitted to get leverage.
A quick strip to get the short shaft out released even more rusty water from the diff, bearings were part seized so it went to the scrap man.
