Did try but couldn't quite shift things around enough, although it looks like you had plenty of help anyway.

No worries Chad my mate. When ever you got a weekend free. Main thing I need to sort is a 5 way multi plug for my wiper motor to make it easier to disconnect when I need to remove the bonnet
Don't know what we will do with the rest of the spaghetti lol

Had a few helpers on Sunday morning to help with my body lift

How is the chassis rebuild going Shaggy?

Well, after my initial inspection I thought I'd best get a second opinion off Lee at Volksmagic.
The crack was found to be longer than I thought. Went right through the battery tray.
The drivers front was wafer thin and starting to look perforated under the pedals.
The passenger side wasn't much better.
So I bit the bullet and gave the order to fit new pans.
Thanks to my lovely, gorgeous, wonderful and stupendous wife for paying for the repairs.

All I need to do now is seal the seams and paint it then carry on with the rebuild.
Still got to lift the body back off to carry on the work though 

It is hard to tell how bad the pans actually are until you get it bare, but at least it will last longer now.

Got in to the garage today to some work on the buggy.
I stripped out the hand brake and the pedal cluster so I can get them stripped, cleaned and powder coated.
Would soda blasting, shot blasting or acid striping be best. Thoughts any one?





Got a dilemma about the colour for them, thinking about Red, White or Black.
Any of you folk want to help pick a colour. 

Floor pan will be black anyway.

Although your body is white I'd not use white on pedals and handbrake as will show age and dirt easily. Black would be a safe conservative choice but might merge with your floor pan and carpet/trim colour so that leaves nice red to high light these operating levers and make them features of your re-vamp.

I get mine shot blasted and powdercoated. Give them a good degrease first. If you're fitting new bushes make sure you get them out first or you'll ruin the finish trying. Also make sure your clutch hook is ok. If it's really worn you'll need to weld it up and file it to shape. I usually go for gloss or satin black. Just my preference as I think colour coding can go a little too far!

Also, on the hand brake, get the coated to be careful not to coat the catch part as a thick coat can stop it moving.

Well I got them parts back today.....nice red powder coat.

Had a few folk round on Sunday to help me get the body back off the chassis and on to trestles in the garage. This makes it easier for me to work on till the time comes to get it back together.





It took a few attempt to get it all to fit, but we did it in the end.



Chad got stuck in to my wiring too.



A heart felt thanks to everyone that came round to help me with the buggy and also help deplete our stock of cookies, tea and coffee.
Can't wait to do it all again when we put them back together.

We had sun here with blue skies today so out to the garage and get some more jobs done
First up was the shift rod bush.



My hand don't fit the hole.



Finally got it in place by using a length of tubing to push it in to position.



A perfect fit.

Not a lot left of the old bush



Next was the gearbox mount and a new rubber sleeve for the clutch and throttle cable. No leaks from there.



On to the chassis finally. Broke out the seam sealer and a one inch brush. This would probably go on easier if it was warm, and if I had cut the bristles down a bit. But got it done before it got dark and cold.





Got the underside done too but I forgot to take a pic of that bit. 

Also got the brake master cylinder refurbished, Thanks to snoopy for the repair kit.



Not painted it, as I didn't want any paint to get in the threads.
Let's see what Sunday brings if it's dry then I'll probably paint the floors in chassis black.
