I`ve seen those Marine hinges on boats down here - very good quality   

They are very heavy. I was surprised by the weight and the quality didn't disappoint.
I ordered the bits Friday afternoon and they arrived first thing Saturday morning.

During our annual RMCH and Tatton tour I had a bit of a problem with my top bearing on my column.
It had come adrift and caused the column to float about in the guide tube and short out the horn.
Patched it up with the help of Dave Dream and his tool box and gaff a tape.
So today I thought I'd fix it as it had moved again and was shorting out.
Removed the steering wheel and the spacer was sat floating on the column.



Next remove the circlip stop collar.

Undo the pinch bolt that holds the switchgear to the column.



Then slide off switchgear.



Slide the new spacer down the column



Till the curved flange is seated on the steering lock plate.


Refit your switchgear and resecure to the column.



Refitted the steering wheel. No more wobbles and shorts for the horn.

Any of the midland crew able to lend a hand taking my buggy apart on Sunday 27th November would be much appreciated, need to cut bolts off for chassis and body separation, floorpan to paint, and a few other odds and sods to do if possible.

After finding a bit of a leak in the body gasket when driving in wet weather, I decided it's time I fixed it.
So I started taking it to bits. It's not been apart in 28 years since I first bolted it up.
Needless to say I'm struggling to get the body bolts out. 
I've carried on disconnecting wiring, fuel lines and brake hoses. (How has this not leaked brake fluid every where I have no idea)
As for my fuel tank that seems ok other than the pipe out the tank snapping off with the hose as I undone the clamp. 

Any way, here's a few pics for you all to look at. Bare in mind I built this on a budget of string and bubble gum wrappers and anything I could scrounge in a breakers yard.

Sorry but I will have to give the body lift a miss until my back has decided to stop hurting, you could use trestles and beams across them to raise the body a end at a time then roll the pan out from under it if you are stuck by youself.

Shaggy, I can call around Sunday for an hour or two, would be about half 11 if that's any good to you?

Had a few helpers on Sunday morning to help with my body lift



Had to cut every body bolt off with the grinder. After 28 years they were a tad rusty.



Ended up cutting the brake lines to the master cylinder from the reservoir and the bolts for the steering column.





All together ....lift..... oh crap, missed a fuel line.



Body finally off


Bare looking. Found a few small bits to fix on the right rear corner. Bit of welding. Clean up the chassis and a repaint.

So whats the plan for the motorised skateboard now 

Just some small repairs and servicing of some parts with a repaint of the chassis, new body gasket and hopefully new strengthening bars in the chassis to help reduce the twisting when cornering.
Plus fix any thing else I happen to break.
