My gear stick in my GP was a bitch to sort out but i put another stick in ( EMPI ) and had no problem, you did the old trick of selecting 2 and then tighten im guessing  .. may just need another fiddle ? long as the gears still select the box should be ok i think ? my problem with the purple one was the hockey stick on the top of the gear box where someone had painted everything and all that moved so it would not move the hockey stick once the paint / crap had made its way into the box...

Just to prove it is getting used now that I have it on the road here are a few photos from the past couple of months.

Went for a ride out today down the M1 to The NSRA swapmeet at Magna in Rotherham. Had a few sort of dead fires / miss fires. Not back fires. Lack of fuel perhaps? But did not really seem logical. It was not under full load, I had re-fuelled this morning.  I actually came off the motorway at one junction to see if there was anything obviously wrong at the engine end. Of course as I came to a stop it was reving readily again.  Had a few more miss fires later, but keeping it at about 3500 rpm seemed to help (issue was at about 3000-3200 rpm.) 

Sounds a bit like an ignition problem to me, dirty points maybe. Or it could be a bad connection made worse by vibration at those rev's. I would check the condition of the points if you have them. If not, check for loose wires or bad connections around the coil and dizzy. You could start the engine in the dark and check for HT leads shorting out and sparking to the engine. It could of cause be one dodgy spark plug.

I'm pointless! so I can rule that out.  Possibly a dodgy connection, but.was intermittent. I'll check them over.
I used to get icing with my old solex and that was much worse than what I experienced yesterday.  Now I have a Weber 32/36....do tbey suffer from icing to some extert too? No real reason why they shouldn't I guess.

Yes, my Weber used to ice up quite quickly -

mine wasn`t a blockage in the heater pipes though, mine was because the heat risers on the exhaust had not actually been drilled out

Been to pick up my roof and side screens this morning. Now I have windows I can see through.  That's one of the winter jobs ticked off the list.

Had a bit of an issue with my alternator pulley, and one thing led to another, and erm........
