Well now NEWS is done for another year..... the countdown is on SWANAGE!!!!!!

Looking forward to this as ever!

Yes what he said.

As to costumes for this year. Options are good, but some of us have been discussing going as Hi de Hi characters. There is a inexpensive costume available, but basically, Yellow Jacket, White shirt or blouse and ideally white trousers.
The link here will help.

if you could let me know if you will joining this costume option - obviously, the more the merrier.

I admire your imagination and extrovert style but fancy dress isn't really my thing.

But I found a simple half way house of a Goodies T shirt which I'm going to wear. The Goodies were more my immature humour....

Well we could simply have an invasion of 30 buggys all saying 'The Goodies' but I doubt it will satisfy the full throttle Monty dressing urge of most on this site !

Meanwhile, for those new folks on here, wondering what all this Swanage business is about....

Here are a selection of videos I've put together (some with other folks footage) of previous years whilst down for the Swanage weekend.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHDSJbEgDUE&list=PLrQTkoSnqkn3UMtC4S5yGqUqo6JvYG28_

The typical itinerary of the weekend (organised by Flags) is:

Go down on the Friday afternoon.
Set up camp in the football grounds which us buggy lot take over for the weekend.
Chill Friday evening.
Saturday a bit of a days cruise may be across the ferry, around Poole, and long the coast in Dorset, a few stop offs with a nice picnic at a suitable location.
Head back to base camp, may be have a BBQ and then head down to the beach for one of the best firework displays around (how do they set of those fireworks from the sea?)
A few drinks (and a few more) in the club house.
Sunday, typically breakfast in the club house (subject to confirmation/enough folks wanting it etc.)
then getting ready for ...
The Parade. - starts at 2pm'ish and we lead the procession - if its a fine day with the great crowds - its an amazing buzz driving through them!
Then either head home (before the crowds) or stay another night at the campsite.

If you have never been before - do it! its a weekend you will love!

And finally am sure Flags will want you to remind you all...
"It never rains at Swanage!"

Sorry for being a bit late on details but there has been a lot going on in the background.

I've got a bit of bad news for those of us wanting to turn up on the Thursday but the club has been hosting an international film company at its facilities and they will now not be clear until Friday lunch.  This has been a major income generator for the club and there was no way they could refuse the extra day.

So... Please DO NOT arrive at the club until 1400Hrs on Friday.  If anyone still wants to come down on Thursday I'm trying to get a fairly local small campsite sorted this afternoon so I'll keep you posted.

Details otherwise are unchanged, bar open on Saturday night, BBQ available for our use all weekend if we wish, for those that are able to we can stay until Monday lunch, cruise on Saturday to Fragile Rock (Portland) via Weymouth to get a picnic and the Carnival Procession on Sunday.

As said before, apologies for the lateness on the changes but I've only just been informed.

As for fancy dress, we are not officially part of the procession but more of a warm up act so don't worry if you don't want to get dressed up as the Buggies make a big impact anyway but....... How about Hawaiian as it certainly worked at IBW?

As said before, apologies for the lateness on the changes but I've only just been informed.

I've been assured that it will be all good as the film company are doing a clean before they leave.

Are you still up for Thursday if I can sort a site?
