Hey all,
looking for a replacement fuel tank if any of you have one lying around, or know where we could get one repaired in the Birmingham area?
At the moment we have a none modified fuel tank with no sender unit and a leak. We are looking for a way around fitting a sender unit without spending a lot of money on a custom tank.
Many thanks Cam and Dad (John)  :D ;-)up

Hi. Cam,

A un modified tank should have a sender top centre. You may struggle to find somebody willing to weld it up.  You can get fuel tank repair putty yo fill the holes then a layer of fibreglass matting  tohelp preserve the rst of the tank. Custom tanks Alans frienddoes for around £90 orChimps was anyway.

I'm told the trick to welding a used fuel tank is to fill it with water first but I'm not offering to do the job !

I thought it was best to braze a furl tank and not weld as welding can have small pin holes in it?

I have brazed a tank myself in the past.

You can do all sorts Hugh steam clean, water and still get a small flash bang, i wash them out then with all apatures open poke a flame in on a stick. Most companies will not do it because of the risk no matter how small and their insurance.

Another option is to leave it empty long enough for any fuel residue to go stale.

What year fuel tank? I have one, it's used and not mint but as far as I can tell it's solid. In the north east though.

I took my old tank and a new one from gsf to Kempston Radiators http://www.kempstonradiators.com/

They moved the filler on the new tank, tested and painted it for a reasonable amount and I ended up with a nice new clean tank.  By far the best option.

A quick google for fuel tank repair Birmingham yielded lots of results. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=fuel+tank+repair+birmingham
