My Sidewinder is up for sale in the cars section, but I've got someone interested in the chassis/body and a couple people who want the wheels which leaves the engine.
It's an old school 1835cc with loads of torque through the rev range.
Had a refresh this year with the carbs being stripped, cleaned and rebuilt, new remote oil cooler, new leads and electrics including electronic ignition, new fuel lines, new tinware powdercoated satin black, polished alternator.
Then had a set up and tune at Rawspeed in Plymouth.
No end float, good compression, may need the valve guides redoing at some point as she smokes a bit on startup.

New motor of this spec would be over 6K without ancillaries, asking 2K complete as it lifts out the buggy.
Includes good clutch on lightened flywheel, carbs, coil, oil cooler, all fuel lines and cannons that have been refinished in English chrome.

Unless the car goes complete I won't sell anything until the motor goes, so can be seen running and driven in the buggy.

The older I get, the better I was.

Got a home for the buggy and the wheels, so a sensible cash offer on this could get someone a good deal on a nice motor  ;-)up

I'd drop to £1500, where about are you based?
Best thing to do would be to come and have a look and a drive.
Just spent £500 on the carb rebuild, tinware, powdercoating and bits,
I got a grand for my turnkey 1600 which was stock.  :-\

Spec I was given when I bought the engine is as follows
1835cc engine
Big valve eliminator heads
Toughened push rods
Toughened, balanced crank
200mm lightened 8 dowell flywheel
External oil filter
Remote oil cooler.
I've had the motor for about 6 years. She came with a single Webber 44 which was a pain in the arse so I had an original pair of Dellorto 36s fitted. Start of this season they were ultrasonic cleaned, rebuilt and rejetted. Also had a new 30hp fan housing and the rest of tinware blasted and powdercoated black.New fuel lines and leads, new electronic ignition, polished alternator, new oil cooler and a tuneup.
Always been a good engine, revs nicely but very good low down torque. She was tuned and carbs rebuilt by Rawspeed in Plymouth this year, compression was good, no end float, only thing they flagged up was that she smoked on start up and on overrun which suggested that the valve guides had some wear.I'd planned to do it this winter but probably worth doing before fitting in a van.If it's still in the buggy I'm happy to take you for a drive.
Got no paperwork, only what I was told when I bought it and what I've been told by the guy who's worked on it.I'll confess I'm not an engine person, have to pay other people.

Certainly was Dave, came down looking for bits for his GP, went home with a Sidewinder  ;D
He got a very good deal but I reckon he'll give it a hood home and looks like it'll be putting in an appearance at some events this summer, starting with Swanage.  ;-)up
