Well I thought it was time to start a thread for my buggy.

Many of you have seen it and after winning this years most need of attention at the SDBC picnic, it's time it got some of that needed attention.

Recently I moved house and now have a nice sized garage to work in.

So yesterday I brought the beasty home and have started the work this evening.

First thing was to drop the engine and gearbox out, my gearbox has been leaking from every joint and this is a situation that just can't continue.  So I hope to get it seen too first while I sort some other issues out.

Fingers crossed this isn't going to be a long set of jobs and I would love to get it to Volksworld, but we shall see.

I'll try snap some pics tomorrow and get them up.

I've started on it, got the gearbox out, borrowed a car and ran that down to Cogbox on Monday.  Spoke to Peter down there and asked him to look it over and stop it leaking, that I just wanted something reliable that I don't have to think about.

Last night I removed the front brakes and will pull the front beam ready for a swap.

Also working out a list of parts I need to replace, not too much, mainly just nuts and bolts.

Thinking about lifting the body off next, maybe over the weekend.

No 100% on that yet, so don't want to jinx it.

btw, I wanted ask if you could give me an assist with the rear brake pressure unit, connecting it up.

Bet that engine is glad of the rest lol mark you can come and put the buggy in my garage and work on it in there if ya want ,plenty of room now and it's dry

I got a bit more done last night, with a little helper at hand.

First was to remove the steering wheel, then finish pulling the front beam off.

With those out of the way I set about unscrewing the bonnet and removing my gauges out of the dash.

Bonnet out of the way I could pull the fuel tank which needs a bit of a clean up, but appears to be solid.

Just need to finish removing the rest of the wiring, which I'm labelling up as it's not been in there long.

I heard from Pete at Cogbox today and my box is about done, nice and quick turnaround that, just need to arrange a time to go and get it. 

Hopefully I'll get enough time this weekend to lift the body and then I can start the rebuild.

I must remember to write a list of bits I need, plenty to do though while I'm waiting for deliveries.

Did a bit more work this weekend, but haven't got photos today.

I've disconnected the loom, and done a few tweaks ready for a new dash side panel I'm putting in.

Roll bar is out and the body is all undone and ready to lift off.  I've got a friend over in the morning, so the shell is being lifted then.  It'll live outside for the time being while I check out the floor pan. 

Should be the last of the disassembly, before I can start building up again.

OK it's been a couple of weeks since my last post.

I've had my gearbox rebuilt by Cogbox and picked it up on Monday, £733 lighter, but hopefully years of trouble free driving with that.

I've also welded up the extra seat mounting holes in the floor, I'll drill new ones once the shell is back on.

Just been painting up the in satin black, and also been getting a couple of extra bits powder coated.

Also had a delivery of MST pushrod tubes from Limebug ready to go onto the engine.

New brake lines going in this weekend. Kunifer from machine7.

Finally had to get a new fuel tank, took my old one to get reconditioned at Kempston Radiators and they said it needs loads of work, so they'll modify my new one up for me instead.

All seems to be money flying out at the moment, but I'm looking forward to it all going back together and ready for an amazing year of buggyness.

Stripped down to the floor pan and started cleaning up, removing the rubber seal between the body and the floor was a pain, heavy duty sealant had been used to hold it down

Floor pan welded and touched up with paint.  The gearbox back in place and Kunifer brake lines going on, also added a little unit to retain 2psi on the rear brake pressure.




Also rerouted the fuel lines, moving the regulator to the rear of the engine.  All the lines are now R9 7.6mm.

Any sign of the new body?
