I wouldn`t have minded so much, it was a good quote, and I was happy with them as Insurers - I may even have accepted it

But I would have preferred a "heads up" with a quote from them first, rather than a call from my card company about a non approved transaction.

Well top marks go to Chris Chalk at A-Plan - (I can see why Andy always recommends them)  ;-)up

Usually, the first quote from any insurance company is artificially hiked up and open to negotiation, but after asking if we were part of the Buggy Club, their first quote to me came back at a respectable £97 - nice and easy set of questions to answer, and no need for those endless photos to be sent like some companies now want.

As an aside, Flux wanted £124 (not bad) - but their recent renewal antics have just lost them my business.

Need to insure the fugitive this week. As fingers crossed will be on the road this weekend. Need a mot and then take the lot to the post office for a tax exempt nip palment disc  ;-)up.
My question is, is there any insurance companies that will insure classic but let me still build up with no claims? As im on my girlfriends policy on our daily. Brings her insurance down as a named driver but i dont get any ncb. So after a classic policy that i can still build up a ncb on. Also would they let me drive any car tp only?? if anyone has any of this it would be good to no.

thanks

aiden

Aiden,

Personally I would either give Chris a ring at A-Plan, or search out A-Plan from the member list and send Claire a PM, as their company have just gone the extra mile and have actually signed up with us so that they can assist first hand with any insurance questions.

They seem to be giving us some very favourable quotes too !!

I wondered if anyone could answer an insurance question for me  :D.......If you take out your buggy insurance fully comp and you put a named driver on it; does the named driver get fully comp insurance or is it only third party cover?. This is for my new buggy I have bought! I wondered if my daughter should insure it with me as a named driver or weather I should insure it with her as a named driver. I guess my daughter will be driving it the most cause mine's quicker lol

Cheers, Rob

It depends how old your daughter is. Under 25 you will find it hard to be able to get her onto any classic policy. As i did with my partner. if over 25 i think the policy will mirror so if you insured fully comp your daughter will be fully comp on it. ect ect.  Suppose it depends what you want out of a policy. Every policy can be taylor made it all comes down to ££££ as per usual!!  ;D ;D

Be nice if someone offered a multicar policy for classics and customs. Let's face it most of either have more than 1 or are planning to.

My daughter is 25 but was a bit concerned about driving as a named driver on my policy, if her cover is down graded to third party!!. We wondered if it was like most policy's, if you have your own fully comp insurance, you can usually drive other peoples car's with their permission but it is only as third party insurance.

Rob, named drived are just that they are covered under the same terms as the main driver unless otherwise stated, so if you have fully comp and name your daughter on your policy, then she will be fully comp while driving the vehicle too.

The only thing the named driver doesn't get is the other vehicle cover the policy holder gets.  ie the ability to drive anyone else's vehicle, with their permission, with thrid party cover.

and also the named driver on most policys wont get a no claims discount at the end of the year which is abit rubbish. But she wont need to use any of her no claims bonus to be a named driver anyway!

Thanks for that guy's, I don't trust any of the insurance companies anyway lol. My daughter has built up her no-claims to the max but most buggy insurance doesn't do no claims bonus anyway and you start at zero with an additional policy,

So I guess I had better have a ring round and see what the bad news will be  ;D. I have just swapped over to T R Youngs cause I do not like how Adrian flux put the price up each year and then say they will beat any other quote you find. And also I never received a penny when someone ran into me a couple of years ago!. But as they say, you never know how good your insurance is until you need to make a claim.

Thanks again guy's, Rob

Following the advise on this thread I rang Chris Chalk at A Plan Friday. Said he had been recommended by people in the club and he asked "is that buggy info" so is well aware of us. Said he would give me the club discount :)

Fully comp, 3000 miles incl driving to work, £6000 agreed value for £117  :)

That was as a normally aspirated mind, don't know if it would be more with the turbo fitted  ::)

So no road tax and £117 insurance, this could be my cheapest transport ever  :D
