Not driven the Fug much since it's gone cold, we did get to VW Action



And have been doing bits to it since

34ict carbs



Changed the rocker covers



New plug leads



And did an oil change, found there wasn't much oil in the heads, so fitted new pushrods too,  could blow them through but couldn't see through them



Need to get out for a drive and then check we have wet rocker covers

Back in December we acquired another engine



Wasn't quite sure what we had, but turns out it's a a really good motor;

Balanced 78mm crank
Bug pack h-beam rods
90.5 Mahle pistons and barrels
Engle fk87 can
1:4 rockers
JMR type 3 ported heads
44idf Webers
Deep sump
Lightened flywheel
Stage 1 clutch
Full flow filter

Turns out it was run a long time back in a buggy called Starbug



Then put under a bench and left for 12 years.
We stripped it and all it really needed was freshening up.

So we've rebuilt it with new bearings, and replaced the cam with a tamer Fk8.
Fitted new tinware and a few other bits

And now have it nearly built up



Still got bits to sort, exhaust etc

But hoping to run the cam in soon and the fit the motor in the summer

A good find, Star Bug was used for drag racing years ago.

He said he ran 12.4 at 110mph

We've swapped the cam, and it'll be running filters and silencers so will hopefully be a bit tamer

He did say it'd pull 10k rpm in burn out on the old cam

Also if anyone sees PKE 619G then he'd like to buy it back 

Thought I should update this a bit.

We spent a while rebuilding the 2007cc engine.

Rebuild was pretty much a bearing refresh as everything was good but with worn bearings,  we did fit a FK8 cam though.

I'd got hold of a spare set of panels, they were rough but we swapped the bonnet over so we can have a go at tidying up the other one.  Fitted this one with aerocatches to make it easier to remove.
We also applied some vinyls to the side panels. 
We went to Goodwood for a show and got there and back without major incident (we did get wet though)
Straight after the weekend away, took it for its MOT and it flew straight through with no issues (MOT tester particularly liked being able to walk round and check the lights with the steering wheel in his had to check lights etc)

We then fitted the big engine, and have been sorting out all the teething issues.

We had a problem at the Gathering with crankcase pressure and a leak from the flywheel oil seal, but seem to have sorted that this weekend
