Hi all.

Just been out in the buggy for it's shake down run after a make over.

All my new bits are great but the new rear view mirror I got from Car Builder Solutions is CRAP Shakes like mad and you can see a straight image. I've used cheap suction ones before but decided to get a better set up. Well that's not work.

So what mirrors are you lot using? The buggy has a manx style screen if there are an y that clip over the top.

I just have a suction cup one on mine which is fine. It's all down to the bit between the mirror and the mount. On the first mirror I had it was so flimsy the mirror shook so bad it wasn't worth it being there.. I got one from halfords now which is much better...

What type of mirror is it is it glued to the screen ? I have a billet alloy one glued on and it is fine.

My mirror is off an Austin metro. Glued to the screen. Don't budge a bit

Worth checking the mirror you have first to see if the joints can be tightened up at all

I have been looking for a convex stainless/ally rear view for 3 years on and off and not found a decent one so it still has the halfords suction cup that works fine but does come loose and wobble if the vacum goes so has to be refitted.

Been to halfords and got another suction mirror so still on the look for a nice neat one. The CBS one is totally useless the plastic ball part which stick to the screen is so weak a deep breath would make it shake.

Each to their own style I guess, but dont forget the mainstream car makers...

My rear view mirror is a Ford part and fitted to the Ka, less than £20 I think, the adhesive they use
at the mounting point is in another world compared to the crap we get from after-market suppliers.

I know these mirrors don't have a lot of style in the 'surfboard etc sense, but they work extremely well.

Clean the screen with a good quality cleaner, the stuff that evaporates quickly, then line up the mirror to the screen
very accurately as you wont get a second chance, then plant the mirror in place, mines been there
since I built the buggy and doesn't move in any way at all.

Car makers know what they need and make sure it works, first time

Like Peter, I use an OEM one as well - think mine was from a Cortina

Check that your windscreen is firmly bolted and braced.
The vibration at the mirror could well be the windscreen itself having a bit of a wobble. (as they say..)
