Who's got mx5 seats in their buggy?
I know fester and Chris barker had some in theirs but anyone else with experience of them??

Got them in both of ours, a easy fit as the slide mountings easily bend up to flat all I have done is a flat bar across the original seat dip in the floor and bolt the through the pan with spacers at the front to get a nice angle.
You can get ones with speakers in the head rests but the originals are poor so need an upgrade to  4 inch.
Heated and leather are also options. Comfy and a good fit but both our are lwb. i listed a supplier in the recommended section.

Got them in mine,  headrest speakers and had heat panels fitted when I had the retrimmed in vinyl, check my build thread for pictures.

I must say they are really comfortable and the retrim made them slightly firmer, which is nice.

I can drive for hours in my buggy and still not ache, whereas my daily I need to stop every copuple of hours max.

Looking at a pair tommorrow morning they are from a MK1 MX5 and will need recovering,
Do the seats tilt forward? making it easier to access the back? Will make my life easier with the roof on

Am also looking at upgrading speakers and creating a pillar box slit through the seat for the harness to go through when they are recovered.

Yes I have them from a mk1. Yes they tip forwards.

Some like mine have separate headrests so no need to faff about cutting holes for the harnesses.

I brought a set the same a Gordons, Which are in good condition,
Although I'm going to ge them re covered as they will suit buggy better, anyone know of anyone in the essex area who can re cover seats.

They seem to be the perfect all round seat!!!
Just looking at ways of getting the harnesses round/through the seats now.

Maybe a pillar box slit in seat that belt goes through and out to mounting point??

Looking at replacing red belts with black ones too.  Bit of an internal make over this year!!!!

Had a look at the fitting of the seats, looks a good fit, has anyone got or can take a few pics of the mounting point in their buggy for me?
That way I can trail fit them with minimum Argo.

I just got my first buggy last weekend which needs finishing to get it on the road. The seats in it look like back breakers (bucket type) and the idea of more comfy seats like the MX5 appeals to me. I have read the comments above about ease of installation.
Is it really as simple as drilling throught the floor pan and bolting through? Are there any catches before I go looking for a pair?

You'll want something to spread the load as wide as you can really. The floor isn't that thick!

Photos are dark as the buggies are blocked in undercover by the window fitters vans and kit. The Jas using a standard pan has a 25mm box section under the front end simply bolted through the floor with large washers underneath to spread the load. the rear has a 25mm X5mm bar welded in across the seat pan drop as a level and the seat bolts to this.


the Kango having a 2mm thick steel sheet floor I just fitted spacers under the runners and bolted in, they need to come out be dressed and painted when I upgrade the speakers and wire them in so next summer.

Not sure if it helps but have upped the exposure on Snoopys photo's. A lot of noise I'm afraid but may help just a little?

I had some custom brackets made up for mine, the brackets bolt straight to the floor and the seats fit unmodified into the brackets
