OK It's been a long week.

Took the week off work to see how much I could get done.

I got the shell bolted down and the roll bar in on the first day.

Then fitted the front lights (including bmw side repeaters for the font indicators, got the wing mirrors back on and fitted camper rear lights)

I had to create some fibreglass half tubes to hold up the rear wiring, something the old shell had but not the new one.  My glassing skills aren't brilliant but they'll do.

Got the bonnet on, used white beetle wing beading between the panels and around the windscreen. Also fitted a mini wiper system, had to make some conduit up for the wiper drives, bend and flared some copper pipe.

Now I'm into wiring hell, got most of it done, just a few bits to finish off and tidy up.  All the electrics are working, even the headphone sockets in the rear.

Still got to put the steering column in, at the moment it's out with a local engineering firm, there are making a spacer up for me between the steering boss and the wheel, when I went to put it in I noticed that the wheel was hitting the indicator stalk (I'm switching to an early beetle column)

Then there's the seats to put in.

Another job to do is to get the tires swapped, I went to get the wheels balanced last week and it turned out that the tires were 19 years old  .  As Goodrich have stopped making 195/60R14 radial T/A, I contacted Northants tyres and they sold me a set of Hercules HP4000, 195/60R14 on the fronts and 255/60R15 on the rear.

Then there's other jobs as well, polishing up the fuel cap and fitting it, side pods scratching my head on how they attach/fit, rear seat, and so on.

Just a quick note to say, I got the tires on the wheels and the wheels on the buggy, buttoned up the last of the wiring, put the front seats in, stuck some fuel in it and took it for a spin today.

Had the tracking checked and that's in tolerance.

Still got a few jobs to do, Mount the fuel filler door, put on the side pods and give the shell a damn good polish.

Then I need rear seats made, front seats retrimmed and new seatbelts.

It's good to have it on the road again though

That's a very nice lwb body style. Where was it made. I'm interested as I might like a mould made from my modified bounty hunter for one of my friends to make a shell.

I found the person who had the original FF shell moulds. Just took a very long time for him to make the shell.

Don't think he still has the moulds anymore, he was looking at selling them.

OK First up the pictures from the other day

Today I polished up my fuel filler door and mounted that, then I wanted to straighten up the steering wheel, so too it for a run and got carried away.  I did visit a friend of mine to chat about getting the rear seats remade and possibly trimming the fronts to match too.  All safely tucked up in the garage after visiting a few family members and cruising through a few of the towns.

The [ictures here were taken while I was waiting for the jetwash to get all the fibreglass dust off of the engine and the front of the pan/beam.

I still need to get my wheel centres back and mount the side pods, did make a start with the CB aerial, but need to buy some connectors.
