Now I've got it back home thought I would start a build thread.
Its a short wheel base Sidewinder from East Coast Buggys with one of Mels lifting vented bonnets in Kawasaki Green - RAL 6018
Registered as a buggy on a Q plate which is a bit of a result. Got to pay road tax but at least its right so not that bothered.

I'm renting the corner of BugED's workshop at this MOT place in Beckford, so have more room to work on it than a single garage.

There will be alot of updates over the next few weeks as I'm planning on getting this done of Stoneliegh, but not promising anything. I have been buying bits over the last 6 months so just got to put it all together. And sort the engine which I may need a bit of a hand with.

And I have Snoopy on speed dial 

Plus George lives in Beckford, literally just round the corner. He's a wizard with VW engines.

Had a bit of trouble with some of the work done on the chassis which is now being put right and the gear box had to be changed due to errors by the previous owner. Many thanks to Snoopy for his help and suppling a new gearbox at a moments notice and showing me how to put it all back together.

Had a good few hours on it today with a mate Kev whos mainly on the Baja site.

Heres a few pictures of what we got up to today.

Bars welded in for the seats



Battery box and storage box glassed into place, needs another layer of glass as I forgot to put it in the car.


Holes cut and hinges on for access


We also removed the front beam cut through it and welded it back up as the front had little suspention movement. Alot better now.

Next weeks jobs are to finish glassing the battery box. paint the chassis, fit the seats, finish the rear suspention, a few other bits and bobs then bold the body down.

Just placed th body back on as it will be off again next week.

that is good progress since last friday, we best do the front and rear tracking before the body goes on.

Like the bonnet on that, the hinged hatches are a good idea

Got the seats mounted





And wiring for rear lights and tow bar done. There will be a plug at the front so when a-framing the buggy I can use the rear lights instead of a trailer board.

Got the old man booked for tuesday to start painting the chassis then it's waiting for parts to turn up then I can finish the chassis work off.

These are my front bumper and roof rack that I had made by Mark at the Dreamshack last year.







I will be getting him to make the cage and rear bumper as well at a later date.

Like the roof rack! I wanted to make a similar thing for mine... One day 

Ditto, I have have an idea on the back burner for that as well.... including spots...

And 'tree bars' as well, I think they will be a good place to put luggage too
