Do us a favour... Get the bloke that's doing your body work to bag over your air filters to stop the dust getting in there. They clog up real quick with filler dust. My mate found that out a long time ago.couldnt understand why his engine wouldn't run right after doing the body work on his cortina. Filter and carb was full of dust it sucked up when it started.
I'm in my buggy,
It's raining,
I really don't care.

QuoteGreat commitment to keeping an old shell going! Must say I'd be pretty tempted to put a new one on there!

Heavens, I should say so, sometimes just swapping out the shell for a 'new' one is a massive cop out.

The Hustler is a great bug, and certainly worth the effort of sorting out.

Hopefully all will end up looking really good and be well worth the effort in the end.

John has certainly been busy over the last few days - I had a peek inside the oven to see the bonnet after its first decent coat of primer, and I have to say that I am mighty impressed with the shape of it. All the lumps and bumps have gone, and it probably looks better now than it did when it first came out of the mold 50 years ago.

I am kind of glad I wasn`t around for this bit, as John stripped off a few layers from the car. Nothing to do with seeing all my hard work over the years being reduced to dust, but more because he now seemed less than impressed about having to go this far down due to the crappy job I did of it the first time around.

Still, it gave him a chance to prove how good he is. With the shell now effectively naked, a decent skim of filler was applied to bring back some of the lost shapes, although I`m not sure than the sides were ever this flat from day one.

It does seem like a lot of filler, but I know that most of it will be removed once the sanding equipment comes out to play.

Whilst the filler is setting, John turns his hand to the dash panel.

Time to leave I think, before he realizes I that made it from an old bit of drainpipe  ::)

Have you thought of taking a mould after you are done?

You are most welcome to all the bits that didn`t stick to the shell if you wanted to piece them back together    ;D
