Hi, just thought I should say hello.

I've bought an ongoing LWB JAS buggy project.

It's been converted from a 1972 beetle.

I'm looking forward to completing the conversion and getting it correctly registered. Well, bviously driving it is what I'm looking forward to the most

I'm sure I will ask some questions along the way as it looks like I've found a like minded community

I'm up in Aberdeen. No idea if there are any other buggies in the area? But I've always wanted one and looking forward to getting it on the road

The previous owner has started the registration process, so I will have to finish the process once the build is complete. I do have some questions on this, but will need to get the car build for pictures first

I'm not really sure what you mean by 'The previous owner has started the registration process' but I'm guessing you'd need to start over following a change of ownership.

As for changing the logbook assuming that it's in your name already and that the engine size and number are correct and that the chassis and floors are completely standard (quite important these days) you'll need to fill in a V627/1 form. This is how I did it, keeping the answers as 'standard VW' as possible. Send a few pictures, not too many as they get easily confused. Try to show the overall look of the car along with the chassis number and one with a tape measure showing the wheelbase. Mention once or twice that the chassis, wheelbase and number of seats remain the same if you can.

This is how I filled in the forms a couple of years ago.

There are more than likely a few members on here who live much closer to Aberdeenshire than the posh south and you posting a build thread of sorts may catch their helpful attention ?

Wow, that's a good vw collection.  I'm afraid I only have half that. But at least i can now justify to the wife that our collection is not too much  and more is merrier

Sadly I'm the previous owner who had to sell the buggy due to health reasons ,I did indeed start to register the buggy , all the relevant paperwork was submitted but they came back wanting photographs of the fully finished buggy , something I couldn't supply , hope the new owner all the best with the project 

hi Jon, thanks again for all the work you have put into this Buggy. I'm sure you will track its build progress and the journey of getting on the road.

So far, i have got the rear brakes setup and handbrake also installed, the gearstick is also re installed. Progress is slow, but i have loads to read up and learn, but its been fun so far. I've not posted any pictures up as I didn't think it was that interesting, and it was too cold for bare fingers to work the camera
