Bought a new buggy with a friend as a project to keep us out of the rain. Plan is to bring it up to an excellent standard for the summer.
Question is ... what model/style is the shell?
I'm ok with old beetles so once we strip it down it's just a case of making good.

Hello and welcome.

Your buggy is a Shark from the early 70s but  the bonnet and front wings have been modified on yours. The headlights would originally have been mounted in the wings.

Someone went to a lot of trouble to alter the original front look.

Either way it has bags of personality and you imply it's running but could benefit from some fettling to a show & shine standard. So we look forward to seeing your sneaky (disguised) shark 'swimming' with a mantaray or two.

Started pulling it apart and it appears to have been originally a sandrail that a shell has been fitted to . Very well put together box section chassis with an unusual front beam . It's had some cutting and shutting that needs putting right and a serious amount of making good.

Thinking of remodelling the body as it seems to be a lwb body on a shortened chassis.
Thoughts 🤔

The body looks the correct length for the chassis.
