Make sure that even under extreme roll over or in any other accident scenario your flailing-about head cannot come anywhere near contact with any of the structure.

If you want a decent cage with decent strength, then use CDS tubing, and use a tube bender to bend it. 1" 5/8" is a good diameter tube to use, without it looking too small or large diameter. Also make sure that your welding is to a good standard.

My hoop is 2" Stainless Pipe with welded elbows, Not intended to be a roll cage.
My engine cage is 33mm OD but i have a tube bender, and a pipe bender. Tube generally has an internal seam. Pipe does not. There are some cheap pipe benders avail but the bigger you go the more pressure is needed.

As for the tube notches i have CAd software that creates 1 to 1 wrap around templates. Fag packet sketch with some dimensions for the angles you require and i can send some on

Stainless.... Had real trouble trying to bend this stuff. It`s not a diy thing to the best of my knowledge. No matter what I tried, how careful I was, and using kiln dried sand, (easily got as "kids play sand), I got warps, stretches and wrinkles. Visited a pro` fabricator to discuss this and he told me that stainless has to be "rolled" as well as "bent".

you shouldn,t be far from a few people that make stock car chassis,they will happily do you the simple bends to make a buggy cage,or thiers plenty of off road nutter in your neck of the woods.

Proper roll cages are usually made from 4130 CroMo tubing or even T45 which is an incredibly tough aircraft grade. Both are a bugger to work with for the amateur, especially T45 which blunts cutting tools like nobodies business.

Sounds like the fella I need to have a chat with .... looking to add a front (screen)hoop and a bar to connect to main hoop to give a decent 'full cage' look but also as I want to carry Windsurf / Surf / SUP Boards up there
