Just taxed the manta ray on the dvla website, seeing it is 1974 it should be a historic vehicle, has anyone managed to apply for this change online, thought I would put 6 months tax on it just so I am legal for my first few runs. And worry about the historic thing later.

Seriously it's really easy. Don't waste dosh on 6 months tax. Just go into the post office with your V5. They send it off for you to change it to Historic and your covered then for 12 months free of charge. Obviously you have to have insurance and MoT.
Who needs prozac when you can drive a buggy?

You'll have to ask the post office about that one  :)

Nearly did it today but then realised I had filled in the changes section with new engine number and size, and thought maybe just get that done first rather than as people say trying to confuse things with more than one request at once ;-)up

Mine is a '72 which I got mine back on the road again this year after xxx years. Rather than open any tins of worms I paid for a full year's tax.

A few weeks later I got a letter saying it should be tax exempt, and a refund cheque would be sent to me. A couple of weeks later the cheque arrived. Happy days.
