Pier Pressure - Cruising Against Cancer

Saturday August 20th (Day 9 of 10)


A longer trip today passing through the English Riveria, all the way down to Falmouth before finally turning towards home. Today will mark both the furthest South and West we will travel on our trip. We will be grabbing a cuppa at Tintagel to find Arthur before ending up at Barnstaple.

Piers visited

If you are in this area today, then I could really do with some help and support. If you have any official contacts that may be of use, then please let me know. If you know anyone in the local groups of the Breast cancer Care or Cancer Research Charities that we are supporting, Newspapers, Local media, local radio, Mayors, anyone official that is up for a photo shoot, or even rent-a-crowd to cheer us on, then can you get them to the piers for our photo shoots? If you have a Buggy and want to join us for todays cruise, then we would love to have you on board, the more the merrier.

Obviously, you can see that with what we are trying to accomplish, it does mean that we are very limited on time, so any drinks or refreshments that you can pass in the direction of the team would be very much appreciated, and silly things like pointing out where the nearest toilet stops are can really save us a lot of time.

Hopefully we will not need any, but it would be useful to know if anyone has any workshop facilities or tools nearby in case of emergency repairs.

And finally, its all about the money - every single penny counts, and it could be that one penny that makes the difference

Had a word with our local Mayor, and he is going to try and come down to Torquay for a picture with you

Paignton access has been pretty much sorted with the leader of the council, and I too am "discussing" access to Torquay - I figured that getting the Mayor to show his face was probably a good way of doing it, as they are unlikely to say no when he is actually present. That said, we live in a bay full of jobsworths, so please keep JC on the case too, as between us, we will manage it

I'm hoping as Jc works for torbay highways that he can pull a few strings....

Im not a religious man at all.... but you got the big JC on the case! Crikey, if anyone can perform miracles for you down there, he can!

Chad - just been informed that we have permission from Richard Brown for access onto Torquay Pier (I`ll show you where) and that the Mayor, Gordon Oliver will come down for a handshake / photo.

Paignton Pier is not a problem, as I will also have my official Paignton Regatta shirt with me, and that will get us through the road closure onto the pier approach road
