Took them out and they do look worn but hard to compare without new ones next to them. Anyway will show you them at stoneleigh. Got it charging tonight after I put them back in. Still an intermittent fault but hopefully easy fix by the looks of it.

So hopefully all good to come out to play this weekend!

Crikey, been a while on this thread.

A bit of housekeeping first, yes it was the brushes on the alternator - a bit of a clean and spring stretch and all was good again.

Been running well since last update. Actually done about 2,700 miles since the MOT in April. Mostly Sporting bears stuff, the odd buggy meet and general commuting - not bad considering the rain we had.



Rear tyres were on the way out so replaced them with a very slightly wider profile of 275/60/R15 - set of Bridgestones for £85 fitted a piece.
Did a quick mid season service and general check over at the weekend. And am currently buying the last of the bits for new rear drums replacements (with the Chevy 5 pcd)
and fitting Discs to the front (again with the chevy 5 pattern so I can ditch the adapters).

But the biggest improvement is this....



I've had a couple of big scratches on the bonnet (where there when I bought it) but have become more noticeable recently (probably due to polish etc) so the match the eyes that I have for the screen when I park it up at shows, Ive added this vinyl sticker to hide the scratches. So the chances of being inconspicuous in the buggy have now well and truly gone!!!! Ok it might look a bit naff, but at least for me its easy to remove and do another one if I want. 

Certainly gives your buggy a very distinct look well beyond the one it already had.

Almost a Colgate ring of confidence look....

I bet that increases your number of rides in the Sporting Bears Club as I reckon the kids will love that   

Just comparing the mileage done this year...

3,242miles done since April 27th - Not bad going for a buggy in just over 3 months (with a lot of rain earlier on and that had a reputation of being on a recovery truck quite a bit! 

And theres still a lot more planned before the end of the summer - gosh, I hope I haven't spoken too soon! I better buy a spare accelorator cable now!!!! 

As some of you will know my CB was a little questionable at times on the convoys, so decided to replace it. Didn't want to spend too much on it so found this little bit of kit on the CB 4x4 site that many of us have used.



Its much simpler with regards to the settings (the old one was far too clever of different settings etc and I kept messing up the country codes etc.) Plus has the standard volume on/off - again with the old one I have to switch it on separately overtime I hit the ignition.

As you can see this unit is tiny and easy to remove when not in use - remember my buggy can be exposed in the rain. And the casing is ideal in case it is caught is a bit of damp weather. Though I will protect it further incase.

Initial test with Gary on his hand held unit on Saturday in London showed it was good for 1/2mile plus (with lots of buildings in the way). And from the link, its not a bad price either. Time will tell but so far - highly recommended.

Compact and bijou  CB  how do the police view the use of these now they are so strict on holding a phone ? Grey area or perfectly legal ,

Mobile Phone is illegal - Hand held microphone is not
