At the NEC end of March to 2nd of April 17, now a 3 day event Friday to sunday pm with set up thursday.

One pre or tatty through to a show car guessing 4 buggies but we can apply for more.

But yours is shiney now we need some well used and barn find types too, i will put the entry form in tomorrow for the same location and 7 buggies that will give us room for working on one.

As said last year (or this year!) I think Allans is a must with the bright flake!

I would happily volunteer mine if needed, though am sure there are plenty of other midlands ones around which would be easier.
Though am sure I will be more on the Dream Rides stand this time around, I may volunteer the buggy for rides but got to be realistic about who would want rides in it at that time of year.

As for a buggy working on - I reckon any buggy will do - just take the engine out, have it on a stand for folks to see it and the open bell housing on the buggy - no need to actually work on it during the show. >>>> keep it simple but is still a talking point!

I want to update you with news about next year's Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show.



Firstly and most importantly, we have changed the show dates from those stated on the 2017 application form (25 - 26 March) that was issued to your club onsite at the event this year.  The show will now be taking place at the NEC Birmingham on:

FRIDAY 31st March - SUNDAY 2nd April 2017

Numerous factors have led to the need to change the show dateline and we apologise if this causes you additional work - this has been done due to demand and to enable us to satisfy more clubs and exhibitors as the show grows.

Please note that as the event is proving increasingly popular with attendance steadily increasing, this year we will be open for 3 days.  With build-up taking place on Thursday 30th March.

The observant amongst you may have also noticed a subtle change within the show name.  We believe that as the show now encompasses restoration and much much more, this name change will better communicate the offering to visitors.

We really hope that your club would like to join us again next spring at the 2017 Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show and the National Car Club Awards - it promised to be the biggest and best season opener to date.

The ideal club stand display would include a vehicle in need of restoration, one being worked on at the show and one in excellent restored condition so that visitors behold and interact with the whole restoration process.  We encourage all clubs to present some kind of demonstration of either a restoration skill or a regular maintenance/servicing activity at the show.  The only activity not permitted within the NEC is spray painting due to the fumes.  There are of course H&S precautions you may need to conform with if you are planning more 'exciting' activities, but we will be able to give you advice.

Attached is the application form to complete and return to me if you would like to participate at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show 2017.  We offer a stand area for club displays free of charge, all other elements of your participation are for the club to arrange and pay for as you require (e.g. accommodation , transport, carpet or electrics etc).  The size of stand offered will depend on the details given on your application form.

N.B. when completing the form, if you are unsure about the exact details of the live activity your club would like to present, please indicate the sort of restoration skill/servicing activity that your club may be in a position to present.

Live work is strongly encouraged but it is not a requirement.  If your club would like to attend but is not able to undertake any live work on your stand this is also acceptable.  We would however ask that the car/s you select to display have a restoration 'story' and that you bring your club's restoration 'experts' or present  a restoration themed display on your stand.

I will be undertaking initial club stand placements at the end of the summer so please return your application by mid-August if you would like to reserve a stand for your club at next year's season opener.

So there it is my thoughts are below

Now we have done one show we could manage a rolling project brought on a trailer I reckon, it will slow leaving after down a bit but you could have a tub with no bonnet for wiring or something that does not need 240V  due to the cost of a single 1kw supply is stupid money. gas soldering irons and battery tools.

Accommodation may be required for long distance travelers as I think the cheap hotels may already have bookings by some of the regular attending clubs and traders.

As for doing some work on a buggy, would VolksMagic have a buggy needing wiring and would Chad be up for doing it or would Kingfisher have a project worth bringing down? Just a thought.

There is always as Buggy in need of wiring.

To be honest I have a perfect project / barn find car. I have a very early Gp mk1 in a pile of bits I could bring along.

Changing the subject very slightly, for the November show (not this one) - the one we were dropped from. The Dream Rides lots were saying that it looks like their are has been dramatically changed not for the better, so probably explains why we didn't get it at all.

Still as we said before this one being more the Practical classics we should be OK.

I would be willing to bring the Beaujangles,  at whatever stage of restoration it will be at at that time. 

I have asked for the same stand as last year but for 7 buggies this time.
