Need some advice Tried starting the Buggy after a couple of months outside and it wouldn't turn over. The cover had blown exposing the air filter and I can only presume water entered the engine. I drained the sump and yes it was full of disgusting grey sludge. I have got it started and it runs fine but despite topping it up with oil and flushing agent and running it for 20 minutes I seem to be getting nowhere, as I keep getting sludge when I drain the sump. Is there anything I need to do that will clean it out , save taking things apart ?? Cheers

Are you just removing the sump plug or taking the plate and strainer off like you should? I'd be inclined to remove the sump plate and glug a load of diesel or parafin into it then let it drain over night.

Good advice, cheers for that. I must admit I had just removed the plug. I will give it a try tomorrow 

If you use any diesel or paraffin to help flush the water out leave it it air out for 24 hrs before you refill with oil and start it. Just in case you get any blow back past the rings and ignights the fumes in the engine case.

Have you access to an air-line?

Thats how I got all of mine out after 20 mins of engine flush - removed the filter / drain plug and also the pressure valve and blew air from one to another

Got another mugfull of sludge from that, and has been fine since

I got lots of sludge in my system when I got caught in a snowstorm. Flushed system took off rockers to clean as much as I could ,cleaned breather pipes removed sump cleaned as much as I could by hand fitted new filter ran for a few weeks then dropped oil again .
