Hi Chris, do you still have your old 009 dizzy? why did you dump it?

Anyway the dizzy should be set at 7.5 degrees static and it's advance restricted to 24 degrees. You could use points and change it to an electronic system later!, there is a points conversion kit to electronic which uses the old distributor. (Muzzy bought one for his)

Would you like me to modify a 009 dizzy for you, to limit the advance? I should have one laying about

I didnt dump it i just melted the points with the flame thrower 2 coil lol and melted the petronix electronic points i added to it with the flamethrower 2 coil lol...so i decided to buy a plug and play wich is a pile of crap mate so havent had much look ,but a massive learning curve ,it says to time a turbo powered engine to 24 degrees btdc so thats what your saying rob ......i have the old one still wich is fine just needs a condensor (flamethrower coil 2 burnt that)and points and its good to go ,but its still a after market job ....

Hi Chris, if you leave your ignition turned on and the points happen to be closed, it can burn them all out lol. As you have a modified engine, you need a modified dizzy, so you can not just buy one and bolt it on!. The original builder might have modified the dizzy to stop it from advancing to much! if that is the case, treat it to new points and condenser and coil. If it is standard, you really need a modified one!

Hi Chris, GREAT news!!!! I received your dizzy today and took it to bits for a look. The original builder new what he was doing. If you can see on the photo at about 3 and 9 o'clock, there are a couple of metal tags that are bent towards you. These stop the centrifugal weights from swinging out too much and advancing the timing. The builder has drilled and "tapped" a thread in these and put a screw in them both so you can adjust the amount of advance you get. Proper job!!!!.

So this is the dizzy to use on "THIS ENGINE" as it is set up for the job, Other off the shelf one's are not!!!

I have got a new condenser, points and oil seal, I will put these on it and get it sent back to you

Rob
