Just trial fitting the 2ltr type 4 engine in the fugitive and there is no distributor. What model do I need to get. Not in any hurry for it but if I know what I need I can look out for one.

 Hi Rich, what carb's are you using on it?. If it/they have got a dizzy vacuum take off point on them; then it is best to use a vacuum and mechanical advance distributor. If you haven't got the vacuum take off point, then a 009 dizzy will be fine.

The original dizzy did have vacuum advance, mechanical advance and vacuum retard on them to meet emissions. These are a bit rare now because they only made them for a few years before they went for the electronic ignition!. I have got one laying around somewhere if you have got all original carb's on it with all the fancy vacuum and tick-over pipes on it.

It came with 2 Solex twin choke carbs. The only mark on them is C 40 P11 6. These figures are in a circle with the 40 P11in the middle the C above and the 6 below. Hope that makes sense.

Hi Rich, I havn't heard of these carbs before but after a bit of searching, it appears these were used on Porsche 356. They are similar to Weber 40 IDF's but there is little information about them for rejetting for different applications.
I found some on ebay and those did seem to have a take off point on them for a vacuum dizzy. It is a little brass pipe that sticks out close to the bottom of the carb. I was wondering if you had a VW engine there or perhaps one for a Porsche!. What engine code has it got on it and how many studs has it got to fasten the inlet manifolds to the heads?

So if this engine has been set up for these carb's, it could run quite well but you might have to get information from Porsche sites to help if not. If your carbs have the vacuum pipe on one of them, then go for a vacuum and mechanical advance dizzy used on the T1/2 engines.
