Dear all.  I have commissioned a central driven three seater sand rail to be built by DreamShack (now BuzzWeld ), the central seat will be slightly forward than the two on either side. It kicked off on the 9th of September by placing a £1250 deposit, the buggy is due end of February, the idea is to bring it to Almeria in Spain and have some blasts through the desert whist role paying a post apocalyptic Mad Max type character (occasionally stopping for tapas of course). For the moment I can upload just two photos, the first is the chassis chosen by Mark from DS for the build. The second is a 1/8th scale rc 'straw' buggy that the design is based on. (incidentally Mark is having that RC buggy done too for free! )

The Buggy I named 'DoomBuggy (well, BuzzWeld DoomBuggy)' will also have fake carburettor bells over the rear, giving it that retro racer style, it should be pretty awesome.

That is very different and on a standard pan easy to get registered correctly.

I had the design in my head for ages, but I couldn't draw it , so I bought loads of straws and boom instant LamboBuggy.

Just a heads up OSMojo, mother in law lives up the road in Torrox, and they have found to get a British registered car transferred onto Spanish plates for road use was a absolute nightmare and that was a Ford Escort and they gave up and bought one out there.
So. luving the idea and am nicely jealous of your plans.

Now that looks an interesting project. Look forward to seeing some updates off Dreamshack on this one

Had a look @ the DreamShack website, looks very professional, lots of good fabrication piccys and packages to suit all pockets.

Has anyone had experience doing business with them

Yes that part of my plan is still a little flakey (to say the least), I intend to drive it there and bring it back each year for MOTs, so keeping it a UK car, insurance might be a problem as I know there are durations to the time limits abroad. Idea is to keep it parked at an airport Alicante or Almeria, I've found 50 euro per month so far for parking, not bad.

Look forward to seeing the progress,  just an idea, and I'm sure if I'm wrong, someone will put me right, if you can obtain a V5 for the chassis pre 1960 it will MOT exempt

It's not a pre 60 chassis (ball joint front end) so you can't just obtain an earlier V5C for it.

My frame has a flip roof,  Mark did an excellent job of making a vague phone description into a steel reality, which was better than my vision.

Currently mot exemption is pre 1960 but in the next year or so it may be changing to 30 year rolling, also road tax is rolling at 40 years

Surely a front end can be changed on a pre 1960 chassis

Monday I will give you guys a run down on the build, it's a tad "different" and has some technical hurdles to cross.   
But that is all part of the fun.   
As it is we have  versions of what we hope will become the main structural sections, but so much is down to taste and ergonomics - and the utter nightmare of making the pair meet, that I have been having a bit of a think/f**kup, throw it away time of it. 
So next week, probably next weekend, we are setting up a go Pro in the eaves of the workshop, and going to do a time lapse of bending, ergonomic testing while Darren is actually there.   
I want to try to keep the tunnel, and space pedals either side of it, but that may not be possible, that's the other main technical hurdle besides making it sexy and useable.
Panel wise the concept is similar to the panelled rail a lot of you have been following.  Unstressed swaged and shaped panels bolted not welded for servicability and ease of repair
