Hi, when I first get in the buggy in the morning the first time I break the front passenger side wheel locks and skids, after 2 or 3 breaks it's all ok again, all the breaks were done in the summer, any ideas ?

Drum or disc brakes.........if drums have you tried readjusting them?....

As John says but you also have your weight on the drivers side, cold wet weather and cold tyres have a large effect.

I had exactly that problem on mine - put it down to moisture on the shoes overnight which made them "grab" quite violently for the first few presses of the pedal. never happened in the warm summers, only the cold damp weather. Once it had grabbed for a few times, it would be just fine for the rest of the day.

That was one of the other annoyances that prompted me to go for a disc conversion.

F1 Tyre warmers? 

If it's got drum brakes on the front then feathering off the square edges of the brake shoes with a bit of sandpaper usually cures this. Don't breath any of the dust though...

Thanx people, yes it's drums, and yes it didn't do it in the summer, will get the sand paper out and check  it over .

I have been getting this too but haven't had chance to have a deeper look yet as I only take it around the block to keep everything free and moving every now and then , it never used to do it only started recently , can cold weather and the weight on the drivers side really do this? I'm only 60kg but I suppose the buggy isn't too heavy either!

the Jas has been stood for a month now and this morning it pulled right on the first 2 applications, drums can rust a bit and things stick.
when I get time I will pop the drums off and ensure the pistons are not rusting in the bores and will apply some copper slip to them if they are then just clean up the drums and shoes reassemble and refit ready for the next trip out or just use it more often.

I cleaned mine up with sandpaper, it stopped for a while but still grabs now and then in the morning for 2 pedal pushes, anyway more importantly than stopping the car safely I'm getting my buggy metal flaked in purple in January , I like the yellow but i wouldn't have chose it myself .
