I don't understand the pricing on the Manxter. Basic kit from Meyers is about £3.5k. They would sell loads more here if they priced them like that. They aren't imported from the states they are made in Portugal so no reason for it really.

At £3.5-4k for a LWB buggy with roll cage, roof and lights loads of people would be in to them IMO. Any way better not rant!

We looked at a manxster but the Jas build was done for 2k below the full manx kit,  Mark has made some changes fot the uk but it is expensive and there are areas that could be improved.

I'm amazed there hasn't been an affordable buggy of a similar design (read not copied) put on the market, after all that's what all the buggies are that most of us are driving around in

From experience with the Doon its mainly down to the actual cost of tooling up, properly painting a buck to take production moulds off and then the cost of making the production moulds after that. Contrary to popular belief there is very little profit in each shell sold (if it is done properly, made to the right thickness and finished off correctly) and a relatively small UK market so it is a big risk for anyone to put serious money into making a new look a like kit.

Dammit and now I' have seen the Doon lwb buggy. Yee gods you lot are like air cooled crack dealers!

Think I am gonna take some photos of the doomed '69 and start a project build even if the first part is a tear down while you lot tempt me with fibreglass beauties

I think a lwb doon with a manxter style cage looks cool. Like the raspberry project that SDBC built at VolksWorld. You have to get the stance, wheels and tyres right on a lwb IMO in order to make the scale work.

Added bonus of the yellow car in the gallery is using high back bucket seats which I have already Plus point, that's shaved £250 off the build cost, minus point, that's £250 toward the body gone 

There are several ways you can go about building the buggy.
I for one couldn't afford at the time to get new or all the parts I wanted to get it to look a particular way so I ended up using second hand parts and what I had.
On the other hand if you've got the cash or the patience to wait until you have then go down the perfect route, it a tricky one but whichever way it's a fun one
