Whats the best wire connectors to use to wire  lights under rear wheel arches, bearing in mind i'm no auto electrician 

Standard crimped connectors will be fine, but make sure you use the correct tool to fit them. If the area is subject to water ingress, then a small blob of silicone to seal the end of the connector where the wire goes in may also be a good idea.

Peter gave me this idea, use heat shrink but before shrinking it on put a bit of hot glue on, makes a watertight seal and insulates.

Depending on the melting point of the hot glue - I have known it to melt and drip on a hot sunny day !!

I just got a load of different size heat shrink with in built gloo.
5 X1 mtr different diams £11ish

the glue is safe in the uk summer then,  water proofing is more important
you can get silicone based grease that protects and seals but Hunters ready prepped shrink wrap seems a good idea..

There's block connectors at moment some have one wire in and two or three wires out

I put slivers of hot melt glue inside the heat shrink and and then.... 'shrink' it all in.

The heat shrink......, shrinks, and the glue melts, when cooled down its 100% water proof.

I am not sure what grade my glue sticks are, standard Halford's ones, but they have never melted
due to hot weather and all is as it was the outset.

I  have had hot melt soften when it is in direct sunlight but never when in the shade, but with global warming who knows

Has anyone ever tried self amalgamating tape,satellite dish fitters use it to waterproof the lnb cable connection,(it bonds itself to itself)

I do use that tape but its pretty pricey. I find its good on the end of braided pipes to stop them fraying.
