Brave or very very stupid!

I was really pooping it to be honest. Was thinking 'maybe I should just weld in some floor pans!'

Managed to squeeze in a couple of hours this afternoon and cracked on with replacing the rear seat section I cut out.









Really with I had more garage space. Just got half a single garage as the other half is the mrs office! The whole thing doesn't fit in one piece now!

Have permanently fitted the floor pans at the right height, fitted the top of tunnel panel, glued in the backing for the rear tunnel curves and filled the gap between the rear of the pan and the rear chassis outrigger sections.

The structural work is basically complete on the floor panel now. I just need to body filler the gaps and radius the edges. I can then permanently attach the shell and finesse the areas where it joins my new floor panel. It is then ready for paint!

Really loving the plug work. Going to be gutted when it comes to paint! Can't afford to get it done and have no skills to do it myself! Have been trying to get someone to help and get a free shell out of it but no joy!

I reckon you could do the paint with a bit of practice it's all in the prep buy a good how to book , use all the materials from the same manufacturer put enough on and flatten back and polish.  There are enough people on here to give advice if you need it. You just need patience

Never sprayed anything before! Would be nice to know I've done it all but I really want a good finish. Buying a compressor will be cheaper than paying a bodyshop though!

Have a look at my buggy, that was all sprayed in our garage by my dad who's only sprayed one other thing before! I'm happy with the finish and it's not as difficult as you would think!

for a first paint job cellulose is good and forgiving as you can rub down and polish it + a drying heat source is not required as it goes touch dry in minutes. you can put plenty of laquer on top to get this finnish.
overspray and drift dries before it lands on stuff in the area.
all other paints will require heat to dry and 2 pack is not good for your health although people can and do spray it at home.

I can second that the finish on Jonny's buggy is superb

You wouldn't believe it was sprayed in a garage by a relative amateur it looks like a proper professional job

Yours looks great Jonny. Sounds like you're talking yourself in to doing the job! 

I've not ruled out doing it. Will see when I have bodyworked it. Don't have a garage or compressor so will be tricky and pricey either way.
