easier to paint after welding or just dress off the area prior to welding, I filled the box sections vertically with hot waxoyl then poured out whatever was not stuck in when it had cooled before plugging any open ends.

snoopy, what dimension steel box did you end up using for the lift for the rear and front sections.

I have found 25mm x 25mm box at B&Q. They also do 35x 20 which might work for the rear end as my tub is not shaped to sit across a box section at the rear, but the Nelsons hat section is shaped..

Jumping in here......I found 25mm wide box a bit narrow to follow the curve nicely along the edge of the pan, so ending up using 30mm.....
As for the Napoleons Hat, .......trial and error with the same size box,altho this bit can be narrower..... ie lots of slicing and rewelding over the curve. The only place at the rear where the height diiffers is where the rise meets the flat edge, ie top and bottom inch or so......again slicing the top off, and rewelding......
Also buy plenty more box than you think you need...........

Ok, I will have a re-measure of the floor pan. Did you bring off the nipples around the bolt holes or did you use them to give a weld edge..?

Not sure what you mean about the bolt hole nipples?......I didnt weld the box to the pan, if thats what you mean.......
The 30 mm box followed the 'bend' in the pan sides better, the 25mm box 'missed' the bolt holes, if that makes sense.

I am intrigued now, if you did not weld your box section to the pan, how did you attach it..?

Having had a further measure, the 30mm box will certainly mirror the shape of the pan a lot better. 30mm lift should also be fine. I seem to think I will have to re-shape the nelsons hat shape in the tub once the lift is complete.

for the box you can use rivnut inserts  top and bottom with srews up through the pan and down through the body or drill through the tub, box and tub with long bolts.
load carrying ones like roll bar need anti crush tubes trough the box as it needs to be tighter than the body bolts.

I have a large stock of Rivnuts and a large rivnut tool, not seen much action since I bought it, so Mrs will be please to see it being used...... 
I love Rivnuts, great concept and easy to use, don't know why I did not think of that all by myself..... 

Box section ordered, as well as new welding rods, so I plan to do a combination now....

Longer bolts..........gasket either side of box........

As suggested I have cut the Nelson's Hat and supported the floor pan and proceeded to hit it and have successfully lowered to the edge that was offending to spirit levels.



That looks much better now.

Next the Nelsons Hat (after some well earned lunch)

First set of cuts and bend coming along nicely.
Trick has been to bend the ends at the same time, in the other direction, so you can get the bend over the top right. Does that make sense..?

Anyway, all bends done looks like this......



Its bolted into place (again with Rivnuts underneath) through the pair of holes either end of the Nelsons hat. Need to run some neoprene strip below it, after a bit of protective pain is applied.
