It's finally getting there!

I feel like I have done so much over the past couple of days, that when I do come in - I can't remember all of what I have done! 

Last thing yesterday I saw there was a little puddle/leak coming from the back. Thought that about 4pm we were ready for a test drive but we didn't have any brakes - sorted now though 

This is the to do list I had for today:
Properly bolt the shell down, cut the end of the bolts of - underneath
Fix-up/tighten the headlights
Fasten in the passenger seat
Put the column switches on
Tighten column down
Bolt steering wheel in
Check tyre pressures
Check gear box

There were other things we found along the way (like the brakes) plus bits and pieces here and there that needed tightening...

Dad's putting in a temporary speedometer at the moment

The list is getting shorter not long now

I could still do with putting the windscreen on, but without it I don't have to put on wipers

Hi Hazel, It is getting there, well done!!!! I don't know what your MOT chap is like but you are supposed to have at least two mirrors!, one inside and an overtaking or wing mirror. With most buggies wing mirrors are a complete waste of time, as you only see your back wheel and wheel arch in them and you can not mount one on your screen. Perhaps your dad could temporally mount an old style motorbike mirror with the long arm, off your dash somewhere; if thats any help. Do you think it will be on the road for NEWS?.

I have been that busy haymaking the last two weeks that I have not done anything to my buggies! or got the tents out yet lol. I will have to find some time this week to check them over, my Rat's fan belt is totally shot but at least you only get a flat battery if it goes on my engine.

I know this is the wrong page but you are more likely to see it on here!!  Could I still book breakfasts for four on the two mornings?

MOT it without the screen and don't bother with the wipers.  You can put the screen on for the weekend, you won't need the wipers   (me and my big mouth  )

I thought one was alright... Can't see a thing out of it anyway and it'll be a wing mirror when I eventually get the bonnet on...
I'm doubting whether it'll get the NEWS, but I'm still hoping!

At leas the haymaking is done though! and flat battery doesn't sound like the end of the world. We haven't had time to sort anything either!

Yeah sure, the land lady just wants a provisional idea of how many, so all good

That's the plan!! 

I've just got to the half way stage with the hay making!, but with how hot it is now, the other half will not take so long.

With how hot it is likely to be, brought food will be suffering!

Later on, you really need to look for mirrors that fasten to the windscreen.

Hazel your mirror is simple only 1 required as you are pre 78 ish or something near.
no screen just one on the r/h side or a dash mounted one on a post with a crash helmet or shades and mask to protect your face.
keep it to a minimum if it is not fitted it is not testable.
you could book it into Ed's on friday and call in on the way to news for the mot as there will be others around should it need repair to pass.

The one I have in the middle at the moment is for the side, but seeing as I don't have the screen on yet...
