Do I really need one?

Has anyone got through without one?

Method of Inspection
1. Check that a speedometer is fitted.
2.  Check the condition of the  speedometer.
3.  Check that the speedometer can  be illuminated.

Reason for Rejection
1. Speedometer not fitted.
2.  Speedometer incomplete, clearly  inoperative or the dial glass  broken or missing.
3.  The speedometer cannot be  illuminated.

So it just has to be there, look good and light up? 

Just use a sat nav

Do you have a smart phone? Kinda as Shaggy says...Have the speedo ap from that? I used that when I speedo didn't work for the first 600 miles (though it did actually still work on the way to and from the mot station!)

What happened to the Acewell you had off me a while back?

Bolt it on, live and earth and it "looks" like a speedo - they don`t test it, just need to check that its present

This is interesting, I didn't realise a satnav would be acceptable. No reason why not though
I guess.

My ancient tomtom has a great speedo display, big and easy to see

It's stored away... Quite a few things on my buggy are temporary in the hope of getting it through an MOT and then do it the way I want to - afterwards...

I've not got a speedo and intending on using a tomtom.
MOT man Ed said its fine.

If you read the instructions it will tell you that you can adjust the odometer whilst it is less than 30Km, after that it is stored and cannot easily be altered. So when you first power it up, make sure you know the mileage you want it to show and then enter it before messing about with other stuff

Okie dokie, not sure where that is. 

Are you thinking of setting it to a specific mileage then?

Why not leave it at zero, for the birth of the Buggy ?
