How to fit!!!



Apart from getting it fired up for the first time!! Been looking at the dashboard and the one Mel Hubbard made from a mould.

First off the old dash was vile! New one next to old one.



The metal tabs and welded angle had to come off...


The new dash was actually too narrow, so as I would probably have to cut it for the steering wheel I cut a line down and mounted it both sides. The result is a gap of about an inch. I may well bridge gap with some fibreglass and blend in.

I'm usually found on the Baja Club website. I did register on the old site but wasn't on there that often.

So What do you need to complete it?

Are you coming along to Volksworld in a few weeks time?

May find stuff and a friendly stand to come and visit

Great little project. Like the work on the dash. Have you considered joining the dash to the bonnet with fibreglass? Makes for a very strong join.

Don't think I fancy joining the two. Would make it a royal PITA to simply take the bonnet off..should I need to.

No plans as of yet to do Volksworld. Shame as my old Beetle is gonna be there..

That was there when I bought the buggy, was done for access and also looks like the fuel still runs through it. I will probably reroute the fuel clean up inside and treat before closing back up.

Well its not always easy finding time. That's the limiting factor!

Also have 5 other cars begging for attention...

When will it be finished? How long is a piece of string...oh and are they ever finished 

Pretty sure I have most if not all of the parts. The seats were salvaged from my old Baja so I need to fabricate some form of mounts. I don't really want to drill through the floor and make holes, would rather weld mounts I think.   

Time is a problem. I also have to convince the mrs that it is a priority up there with finding a job and moving house!
