Hi All, can I say thanks to Dave and Dave and another chap who I didn't get his name so for now I'll call him Dave also who gave me a warm welcome when I introduced myself at the National Kit Car show on Saturday.
I have recently rescued a Volksrod from a barn, last driven in 1992. Unfortunately I have no history on the Bug or any clue what model etc it is.
If anyone could help me with some info it would be a great help.
Mean while I have a full resto job to do in readiness for next summer.

Dave is statistically a good bet in the buggy world !

That looks a sleeping princess ready to be literally dusted down and 'kissed' into life. If it's been kept dry then you may structurally have no real issues.

So someone on here will answer your question but please keep posting updates and discoveries as you refurbish it. Perhaps start a build thread.

Whereabouts are you based ?

I'm near Axminster, East Devon. I'll post updates on the resto as it progresses. I've started the strip down but before I get too far down the line I need to get it started. So far it turns and has a spark......

Turns and sparks are great beginings.

Can you get along to Swanage to see other buggys and - by then - perhaps have loads of practical questions and a 'wants' list ?

Gotta love a Volksrod.
MK3 by the looks if it, ridged bonnet and small headlights. Is it short wheelbase?

Not sure on wheel base, I have a feeling its long but it would be handy to know the measurements so I can check. I had no clue what Mk it was so thanks for the info, it all helps. Not sure why it has a Type 3 Fuel injected engine unless that was the thing back then.

Hello and welcome.

That's a MK3 Volksrod, that means it's short wheelbase, shortened by around 13", the headlights are from an old Fiat 500 and the indicators are the ears off of a MK1 Dalek  ;D  ;D  ;D

It's been off the road for a while...

Thanks Dave and Dave getting to the bottom of make and model is a great help, the headlights were puzzling me but it all makes sense now.

As far as the Mk1 Dalek ears are concerned  "your cosmic joyride awaits" the Dr must have been a buggy owner.. ;D

See you for sure in Swanage.
