I assume they will use the chassis number to tie it to the original buggy registration number on record the original beetle log book registration number should be off the system.
Possibly but this is dvla so anything is possible, will just wait and see what happens next.

I thought I heard on the news the other day something like 1.4 million backdated enquiries?  Are they still taking Industrial Action ?

I phoned just over a week ago and was told, when eventually I got to speak to someone, that the backlog is "massive" and strike action still occurring. This is going to continue to be one almighty mess for anything other than automated on-line procedures for the forseeable.

Looking a bit like dvla is going to implode,  or perhaps will get moved to a call centre in Mumbai
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Not expecting much, but time will tell

I sent a V5C off to be 'amended' mid April, hadn't heard anything so emailed them last week, had a response within hours that it had been done and was in the post. It arrived today and had a very positive result.

There are staff there doing something ;-)up
"Ah, Beach Buggies, sure, just a quick cheap way of getting a few more years out of a rusty Beetle. You can throw one together in a weekend." anon.

Recieved a reply from dvla. The inspection report is with the appropriate department for processing , they are waiting for information from another department, before they can proceed

You could not make it up, why more than one department involved surely they all have access to the whole DVLA data base and ancillary parts.

Civil service, everything has to be separated into departments, increasing the number of department heads, so more jobs for the boys
Used to be, the more people you were in charge of, the more you were paid.
Also the more departments, the easier to spread any blame away from yourself

Recieved a phone call from dvla today.
Will be sending me a v5 once I inform them who I bought the buggy from and how I tracked down the registration from the vin number. Trawl through records and fired off an email reply.
Just waiting for the next hoop to jump through

Will be sending me a v5 once I inform them  . . . . . how I tracked down the registration from the vin number.

In the olden days you could do that when applying for a V5 by putting down engine and chassis number and leaving Reg blank.  ;D

Still not heard back, so fired off another email,  if I have to jump through  more hoops, it would be nice to be told about them.
At this rate might get to enjoy driving in snow with 10 inch wide wheels
