Hey guys, just ordered a new body from FF buggies. (Fibercraft?)

I was going for a predator but there is also a option of the sidewinder. Does anyone have any advice which is better? I was just told the predator did have some small defects in its dimensions, just like the GP

If you ask a Sidewnder owner they will say Sidewinder but on the other hand a Predator owner will tell you the truth😂
Who told you the Predator had defects?
Have a look at how finicky Ludicruz has been on his build and I mean that as a compliment, there is no way he would have accepted a wonky shell to start with.
I can say that the moulds for the Predator are the newest out there and to me it is the closest to a traditional Manx but with some user friendly updates like wider wings and more space at the rear for engine access both of which were kept on the Sidewinder.
If you are going to fit side pods apart from the rear wings there is not a lot to shout about.
I've built a Predator for me and a Sidewinder for a buddy and they both needed the same fettling to get them right.

I was thinking it maybe like the GP Mk1's where the left side is about 1/2 inch wider than the right and the front wings are at different heights.

I'll be back on after advice on "fettling" no doubt.

The mould is quite new, it may even be the one Ludicruz used, from the various bits of information I have found across the forum.

Mine was the first out of that mould and I know for a fact that the plug was a good one.

The predator is quite distinct in several ways, the dash in my opinion is the best out of all the buggies out there....

A blank canvas that you can do so much with....

And your dash is a piece of art......well the whole buggy is.

I would love to do something similar, but it's got to be different. I do like the way you machined a face for them to sit into.

The Sidewinder I built for Dai has the same dash but is more tucked under in the nose at the number plate than a Predator.

One of the things that gets me is a mismatch of switches and gauges on an otherwise quality build.



They are a blank canvas

Built two Sidewinders, back to back with both shells and side pods, been spot on. I hear theirs only slight differences between the predator and sidewinder.


One thing I miss on the sidewinders is the little step around the rear section at the top of the body which is great to attach your soft top to and stops the rain coming in. its what look you are after to, I built one on a budget and old style and the second (the lads one) a little bit offroady look, same bodies but they look totally different. On saying that I dont think there are two buggies the same on the road today lol

That roll bar set up on the purple one is brilliant. That's the sort of thing I want to do on mine. You are right, same bodies different colour and stance and they look completely different.

I've seen the 2 of them in the flesh (or should that be in the fibreglass) and different as chalk and cheese

Personally I see buggy shells falling into types.  Many, such as the 2 you are considering, with little between them. Others are pretty unique in their styling.

Whatever you get it starts to become different to all others the moment you start making it suit you
