patrially wired but it will be coming out and a complete new set up put in

rear lap belts part fitted but only bolted through the tub by the shiny nut,




going to need a full check through, rework where needed and fabrication of a dash frame, front body mounts and rear seat belt frame if required, a parts wanted list is in the pipeline and will follow.

So snoopy to save Kath following you around like a lost puppy  have you brought another Buggy or are you just doing the renovation for someone else 

This is a job for the owner through the seller who had it last year, no idea if it will be sold or kept but can keep a look out for one if Kathy needs one.

had a couple of hours on it today and checked the front brakes, all new parts inside but full of rust and spiders seem the new wheel bearings just got near the grease tin but not packed with grease.  ball joint nuts had been put on with sheared seized split pins still in the holes,  steering stops are sheared off so to gain access drop arm off time but pushing down the whole axle pivot forwards about 20mm  look at the bolts A2 stainless 115mm long so bottomed out but tight on the spanner. This could have gone on the road with no mot in a very dangerous state as the jobs were finished and the brakes all bled and steering connected. Axle out day tomorrow to drill the stops out and fit new bolts then the front will be finished. after market chrome steering column connectors will be swapped for vw genuine photos to follow as to why.

a few hours this morning all the brakes stripped ,checked and done, anti roll bar parts removed from the rear but they put up a fight, front axle out and steering stops repaired now fully working and adjustable and correct axle mounting bolts used to refit it. 

got to find 2 grease nipples and order a 10mm fine nut then the base is finished.

ripped the wiring out from under the rear and still not sure what this was doing a 4 way spade connector with 2 VW wires out and a third to a spade which has a twin small red/black in black sleeve and a white wire out of the rear, the white then split into 3 using scotch locks, may be worth something on evil bay as a conversation piece

the 4 way terminal is worth having so now stripped and in the spares bin.

Reckon the same bloke wired that as originally did mine

been ticking over for a couple of days but front axle is done just needs a 10mm fine nut for the damper, body bolted down and most wiring in, but need to sort this roll bar as it will be H reg an require seat belts. Apart from being to high the feet are not straight by a long way it has massive toe out and is too tall to fit the roof so need shortening plus it is 2" to narrow.

Today started well the roll bar was simpler than expected when cut for lowering,


front body mounts took two attempts as the first rubbed the fuel tank and the cheap Peugeot 307 seat runner arrived from e bay and caused problems modifying it but it finally gave in and is bolted to the seat just need to make a handle for it to slide

requires the headlamps off to close the bonnet so think the owner may need to relocate them to a front bumper for practical reasons.


only a bit to do as awaiting parts now.

Head lights placed to obstruct the bonnet - which has the fuel tank - is the sort of thing I'd do if building a buggy !

Having said that perhaps it was built as a trailer Queen and not really meant to run....

It can be refueled with the bonnet closed, moving the headlights to a front bumper will be easy.

Or like my Manx headlights are on the opening bonnet
