This maybe interesting to some so I thought I might post it up.

The Baja 1000 is set to kick off shortly and some members of the Manx Club who are racing have put
together a tracking system/page, it remains to be seen how many will actively use it
but a few are already and its live now. Team 302 is one of the buggies that are using it. Its basic but works well
and as the race unfolds their current positions and map references are available.

I have to say its quite a first and is working very well, not much activity at the moment as teams are arriving,
one of which drove across the states just to get to the start line  So I have put an album together with the
relevant links being in there too.

I once watched a Charlie Boorman DVD of him trying to do the Dakar on a Motorcycle and it was a real eye opener about how badly they were supported by the race organisers, even in times of emergency and need. Events like this are not to be taken lightly as you really are often on your own.

Everybody finished, though not without incident, 302 smashed the steering gear up and
needed welding, an amazing year with the Manx Club members really getting to grips
with the tracking side of things, the fact that each leg kicked off at around 6pm our time
meant it was nice to check things out when i came home from work.

A few updates photo wise here, hopefully the Manx that drove 1000 miles to get there, then race,
and go home afterwards has a safe and trouble free run back 

The support crews and drivers did an amazing job    Fantastic!
