hi all I have standard vw wiper motor need some longer wiper arms as the standard wiper arms/ wipers sit low down an catch frame I'm going to hunt round scrap yard any ideas what will fit

depends on the year of the VW wipers early ones on a straight spindle with side screw you can fit adaptors to use modern multi spline arms so adjustable length arms can be used available from Europa spares and alike, later arms with the nut you could drill out the rivets and fit longer arms to the mounting or on both types you could cut and weld on another beetle arm top to extend them. 

Adjustable length wiper arms are available from the likes of car builder solution etc. You may have to adapt fitting to splines however. (Never taken a close look).

Paul the multi spline adaptors only fit on straight drive shafts then you can use the adjustable arms they come in straight and left or right park positions however fitting a lucas system over comes this problem and gives in my opinion a better system which is very adaptable on mounting position, spindle spacing and sweep.

Hello Keith... You are always on the ball   ..... I have gone the Lucas way as Marc did. (You might remember advising me of this).

A number or reasons for this... The donor motor and especially the linkage arms are in dire mech` condition. Heritage sells all the gubbins for the linkages but every little piece sold individually  adds up to an arm and a leg.  The motor was a serious issue.. Well worn and erratic.

I need the following compliance... 140 degree angle sweep. 2 speed. The speeds must be close to 50% difference. Try getting a original set up to come close to being consistent. I couldn`t 

The Lucas set up is really adaptable and comes in many sweep angle variations and the tube and cable can be cut to the precise desired length.

I will post pictures when i have the set up finalised.

Hi Paul, to save buying new drive wheels to adjust the sweep I removed the pin on it and reset it with a spot weld to get the sweep I wanted. It may save a bit of pension.
