Hi there everybody,

Does anyone out there who knows where I can get a soft/hard top for my 1971 Tramp Roadster? I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks in anticipation.

You'd need to get one made by either a car trimmer or a boatyard. The original Tramp hood used the roll bar as its sole support.

"Ah, Beach Buggies, sure, just a quick cheap way of getting a few more years out of a rusty Beetle. You can throw one together in a weekend." anon.

Thanks for that  .I was getting some really stupid quotes from people who obviously didn't want to do the job. I'll start again. Cheers

I have done a bit of checking into this subject which appears to crop up regularly.  (I need a top for my Manx at a later date).

It would seem a typical quote is in the region of £2000 upover. (This with zip out doors). Your buggy needed at the trimmers for the duration.

I live quite close to Hartlepool which is an old north eastern harbor with a modern marina area. There are a number of long time established "sail makers" in the marina area.
They were quite interested and said to come back when I was ready to go ahead. Couldn`t get a firm price but think this may be a route to go down.
