think my brother wanted a flat panel, believe he used conti board from b and q, you know, the plasticy covered wood stuff for shelves and wotnot,
dont even think he bothered with a release wax, just a pry bar/chisel, just slap on the gel coat, then several layers of matting, wait till its cured, pull it off,

i think it was pacific customs i delt with when i was trying to find the right universal joint to match that column to the vw box,
Rang them in the end, Very helpfull staff and sent what i wanted quick, ask them to mark it as a gift and lower the value a bit, that way you'll pay less customs charges, however if it does go missing you'll only get the value of what they declare, as long as it isn't too heavy postage wasn't too bad, going from memory it was about £20 ish for the coupling and the flamed horn push,

i got the ididit column, going from memory i 'think' it was the 27" one, then you need to add the universal joint at the end to marry it up to the vw steering box,
think i paid about £250 for the column and about £70 for the universal joint, all came from the usa so expect import taxes on those prices., mines for a chevy camaro has the turn switch and is height adjustable and has a hazard switch on it too, getting the right horn push is a pain, i ended up drilling holes in mine and screwing it into the boss because it simply wouldnt stay in the hole its made for. the wiring on it though is pretty straightforward though i did cut the stupidly large connector off!

dont forget the little part which isnt actually shown on that diagram that goes around the oil cooler to stop the air taking the easy way around it rather than through it, for the life of me i cant remember what its called though.....
