What size wheels are you running them on? I may be tempted!

I picked this up last week from my neighbour as he was moving house and needed it shifting. It had been parked up because a garage told him the turbo had blown and it was uneconomical to repair. I bought it with the intention of sorting out. I got it running with a new battery, cleaned the EGR, MAP and MAF and have cleared the error code, which was an overboost (most likely a split rubber pipe). Tomorrow I'm going to reset the ECU and take it for a test spin, I'm hoping that the issue has been cleared up. I'm now in the position of needing immediate cash so am selling it at what it has cost me so far, which is £350. For your hard earned cash you get Alfa 147 1.9 JTD Multi-jet with 99k the clock with a fairly clean interior/exterior. It starts, drives and stops, has factory sat nav/phone system, AC, Electric everything, 6 speed gearbox, Cruise control, the list goes on. You'll also get the new battery (and old one if you want it) and an Interface to connect it to your pc for checking error codes. The interior is a sought after red leather (ideal for that buggy in your garage..) and the exterior is a metallic black.

As per my buggy advert, buying a house has left me needing to free up some cash, the chop is another one to go. I only got it recently (prior to this whole house buying fiasco) and have been using it as a daily. It's a reliable, jump in go anywhere car.

Here's how it looks:



As you can see it sits low, it has a narrowed front beam and has been dropped at the rear. The chop is one of the best I've ever seen, it's how bugs should have come from the factory imo. The quarter lights were retained (rare for chop!), is mot'd until Oct '15 and a lot of fun to drive. It's running a 1300 TP which I've just spent a fair bit of cash on to get it running spot on. The interior is basic, there's no rear seat, the dash has been smoothed with all controls underneath. There's a funky speedo/fuel gauge housing and it's been professionally re-wired at great cost. It is solid, but has been repaired in the past for its MOT. As with the buggy, this can be bought with several different engine options, assuming the engine you're interested in hasn't sold with the buggy:

RV8 is blown through a modified Wade RO43, as I didn't finish the conversion fully I've not heard the engine running but have been told it was a strong unit. It's estimated to have around 350bhp and that should be plenty for most. With the RV8 it's £8.5k.

Ford 5.0 V8 with a Kennedy twin clutch set up. The engine is from a low mileage (36k) mustang that I bought and broke specifically for the engine (much to the dismay of the mustang owners club..it was in great condition). This will need the same work as the RV8 in addition to engine mounts and a few other bits n bobs. The engine is a cast iron block and will make the front of the buggy very light.. £7.5k

I have a 1300 TP currently in my chopped bug (also for sale..). I just spent £400 on a fully refurb'd GERMAN solex as well as a SVDA Pertronix dissy. It fires up on the key and has been a reliable engine. It's nippy enough in the bug, I'm sure it'd be plenty in the buggy,  £4000.

Finally, there's the option of buying it without an engine  at £3000.

It is with great sadness that I am putting my buggy up for sale. I've spent a lot of time and money to get it to this stage and had many more grand plans, however I'm in the process of buying a house and need to get some cash flow in as soon as. I bought the buggy from Sawmill Jim 2 years ago and had a lot of fun with it running the 1776cc it had at the time. I then ended up getting my hands on a blown RV8 and it made sense to mate the two..
It's a Sidewinder built on a 67' pan, with IRS rear and Balljoint front. On the old wheels it handled very well and was a blast to drive, I've not driven it on the new wheels yet. It's currently set up for the RV8 with a Holley electric fuel pump and boost/water temp gauges. The wheels are ultra claws, 10x15 all around with custom made adaptors (THICK billet, not those cheap stamped ones). The rears are 33x12.5's, the front are 275/50's iirc. The buggy is not mot'd and will need a little work before the MOT, the amount of work depending on the engine choice you prefer.

The engine options are as follows:

In addition to the engine specific work the buggy will need the rear suspension levelling as I was part way through raising it, one side is higher than the other.

Other unique parts are the Hurst shift handle and tiny billet steering wheel, it'll be a lot of fun to drive, regardless of which engine option you choose.

Congratulations Ben, I've been watching your thread for quite a while, the engine looks the nuts and really suits the buggy. I'm looking forward to seeing a video or two! Before you go changing gearboxes it may be worth looking into larger diameter rear tyres, effectively adjusting your final gear ratio.
