You just need to remove the clip holding the original roller pedal in place. And fit a scale board wheel.
If you want to remove the pedal arm you will need to remove the whole pedal assembly in its entirety from the floor pan.

Like Shaggy says,  I fitted a skateboard wheel to mine, it requires no modification and can be done in situ. The original wheel is just held on with a circlip and the shaft is exactly the right diameter for a skateboard wheel, I think I just added a washer either side of the wheel to stop it sliding around

I know everyone fits wheels and things to the VW roller on the accelerator
pedal arm, I just thought I would mention that the roller was used to run
behind VW's flat accelerator plate and leverage was built in, I have always thought
they seem very stiff when used with only a roller, ie 'direct action.

I thought I would put up a picture of my assembly, sorry about the mess, I know it really needs
a clean...  ???

I just cut the roller upright off and re welded a long section of another throttle bar so as to extend the
height, to this I welded a piece of tube, the photo also shows how I made the clutch and brake pedals
much more comfy to use.

The original pedal face is behind a rectangular lump of 2.5mm steel sheet, welded and wrapped over it, I covered
it all with perforated sheet.

The throttle is very light and precise and it lovely to use, the brake and clutch are also very comfy  :)

Just my thoughts  ;-)up

The two clips round the main shaft are my infinitely and separately, adjustable pedal position stops, the heads of which
rest against a small piece of 12 x 12 x 50 angle welded just behind the pedal bar  :)

thanks for the info, if I fit a roller and do away with the original pedal there's a bit of fabrication as the shaft wont be long enough, the roller is  at least 75mm wide for a guess ill have to measure to be correct though " bit of anal snobbery here, its black and yellow to match my buggy  and its not like your average skate board roller ".  :) ;D ::). ill look into  how hard the pedal is to press with a s/b roller . thanks again gc..
