Hi,
I'm after a set of standard domed type hubcaps to fit on my new buggy. The buggy is registered as a '65. I noticed that places selling hubcaps say fits Beetle until 7.1965. In my ignorance I believed there were no major differences till '67, and had assumed if I buy them they'll fit. But as there are experts to hand, and I don't wish to throw away money, I thought I'd ask

I know I'll need hubcap clips, but will standard domed hubcaps (or baby moons) fit my wheels? Or is there a subtle difference I am unaware of?

Here's a pic which gives you a good look at the wheels. This was taken a couple of years ago....before I owned it, but when I was stalking it :-D

Cheers,
Iain

Standard hubcap will work fine. 1965 and earlier. Looks like you'll need a few clips too

I can't tell from the picture, do the rears have clips or what's left of clips?

Didn't I just answer this on thesamba.com  :-\
"Ah, Beach Buggies, sure, just a quick cheap way of getting a few more years out of a rusty Beetle. You can throw one together in a weekend." anon.

Hi,
Thanks Parmaynu and Manxdavid!
Yes you did just answer me on the samba. I will be needing clips for all 4 wheels. I think I'll install them with bolts rather than faffing about with rivets.
Cheers,
Iain

Won't using bolts create clearance issues between the wheels and drums?  (I have no idea so just throwing it out there, just on case)

Good point Buggybaggy. I was thinking of tackling it as suggested on the link below. Though maybe look at machining a bit off the bolt heads rather than countersinking the holes on the wheels. I'd always rather mess with a cheap readily available bolt than screw up an expensive original component. I think doing the rivets on such a deep wheel with the tyres installed could be a PITA.

That's how I would do it. Countersunk from the inside of the rim
