Hello all, first post on this forum, I have been about in the past though on other forums a long time ago.....
has anyone got a floorpan with V5 that doesn't say beetle or saloon? I want to build a new buggy, but I need a pan first!
thank you, Keith

Welcome Keith, what you are looking for is a big ask, think you have more chance finding rocking horse poo, IMO might be better looking for a project with the correct V5 and then rebody, won't be cheap these days thou. Good luck with the build. ;-)up

Welcome Keith  ;-)up

From your name, are you requiring a shortened chassis to fit a Manx body shell?
Definitions -
Understeer  - Hitting the fence with the front of the car
Oversteer    - Hitting the fence with the rear of the car
Horsepower - How fast you hit the fence
Torque        - How far you take the fence with you

thanks Chaps, I'm after a pan long or short. I've come to realise nowadays I can't be fussy!

cheers, Keith

Hi Keith,

As you are you building from scratch, the advice many of us would give, whether you have a V5 with or without beetle/saloon mentioned. Is to go ahead and build the buggy to IVA/SVA standards. Its not as hard as you might think when starting the building (but very very hard to make an existing buggy meet those standards)

Whether you actually put it through the IVA/SVA afterwards is entirely your call (though many would recommend it) that way whatever is on the V5 makes little difference.

Of course if you do get a chassis with buggy/convertible on the V5 well, all well and good (though might still be an idea to still do it to IVA/SVA requirements)

Thanks for the replies gents, very kind. I think I may be looking for the holy grail with a non beetle/saloon v5, but there are certainly still options! Just not as easy as it used to be!

I had one with "VW beach buggy" on the v5c. I was surprised that when I put it up for sale back in May people, weren't falling over themselves for it but it did eventually sell...went for around 1k..

My buggy also has that on the v5c

I know of a Manx project for sale. Undrilled shell and 'convertible' chassis. The guy wants £1500

The colour is matched to Porsche guards red. The chassis is from a 1303 so will need a framehead swap when it's shortened. It has solid pans.

Wow, what a sweet deal!
