Ok , here's one  ! What do ,the winter buggy driving afficionados wear for warmth and comfort when out and about ? Bearing in mind , the manta ray has no hood or proper screen, just a pair of small folding aero screens. Just ordered a leather biker type jacket as I didn't want anything too bulky but wants to stop the wind. Any do's ,dont's  possibles, Nevers, or personal reccomendations or preferences?  ;-)up

Have a look at Chad's soft shell jacket - on the Home page search ' Midland Buggy Club Embroidered Apparel '.

These jackets are waterproof, have collars and velcro sleeves to reduce draughts and so stop the air cooling which means they are all you need in the summer and can have one of Dave DNDs buggy fleeces underneath in the winter. If you get one with a MBC logo you'll be part of a diverse and accepting club and feel slightly more legitimate when driving in a buggy !

Assuming the pre 1971 rubber wasn't perished would the tread be road legal ?

Well the expression goes that 'Life's a beach' so why shouldn't all roads have sand on them.

It would level the playing field between normal traffic and drivers of beach buggys.

You want a game changer ?

I have been quite surprised at how few buggy drivers use this stuff, it rewrites the rules as far as driving a buggy in winter,
or any time really, goes. I use a Girbing sleeveless jacket and occasionally gloves...

It was -6 outside today and as usual I set off for work at 6.55am, I decided to have the jacket on full blast for a change and by the time I was at Sevenoaks I had dialed it down to 50% as I was literally boiling.
I have found after many years use that my gloves are only needed when it gets really cold, say -14... I wear the jacket on top of
a Tee shirt and just have my work fleece on top of it.

Because its an unbelievably hot outside source of heat, your body quite frankly doesn't lose any and just gets warmer ...  ;-)up
and hands dont get cold either due to the blood being so warm, which is why I dont need the gloves very often.

The price may seem high but in a way its incredibly cheap, you can wear it all year if you want, even on cold summer nights after a heatwave during the day, just enjoy things and be comfy all the time... ;D

I wonder about all the crap said about not getting cold, if we sit and drive all day in cold weather we lose body heat eventually so wont be feeling the 'warmth', warmth which is only available because our bodies have lost it into the clothing. Its your lost body heat that you feel...

So, if you want something that actually works, this is it!  ;D 8)

By the way, all the Girbing stuff is guaranteed for 'life'!  :)

Pete.... have just googled Gerbing and perused the website. There appears to be a sleeveless jacket "new for 2016\17". I know yours will be a prior version but can you give me any idea of the amps drawn by the jacket and gloves when both in full warm up. Cannot see anything on the site. Up in my neck of the woods we see -10oC often throughout the winter.  ;-)(-;
