My fuel gauge wasn't working and after some sound advice from Snoopy I managed to ascertain that the gauge itself was fine. When I did the majority of the buggy build 30 odd years ago, it seems I omitted to earth the fuel tank. Sorted that but still no sign of life at the gauge even though the tank is half full. Decided to remove the sender - a pig of a job as access was minimal. Once removed I could see it was caked in limescale like stuff, so I dismantled it:



After carefully cleaning all the muck off it looked like this:



Now the eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that I broke the thin wire in the rheostat winding (you can just see it sticking up). With a bit of careful winkling with a scalpel blade, I managed to tuck the loose end under the next wrap and bend it underneath which re-made the circuit/connection. put it all back together and Hey Presto, it worked! Sense of achievement  . Thanks again Snoopy for the advice regarding testing.
