Was thinking off fitting a speedo with fuel gauge ,at the moment have speedo and seperate fuel gauge, would it be easy to fit connections from my seperate fuel gauge tank has electrical sender.How accurate would it be on reading fuel ?

Guage accuracy can be awkward on a buggy as the tank is usually mounted at a slightly different angle than in the donor Beetle. They can be made to work accurately but it can take a bit of trial and error, ie bending and re-bending the guaage sender's float arm until you've got a gallon left when the needle hits the red. It can be done though. Electric guages are generally more accurate than mechanical ones.

Just wire the new speedo/fuel guage the same as a stock Beetle; +ve feed to the voltage stabiliser side of the guage and the other side goes to the tank sender. Make sure that the tank and sender have good earths.

Electric guages are generally more accurate than mechanical ones

The electric ones are only as accurrate as the number of segments they candisplay - the more segments on the gauge, the more accurrate it will be - but we still have the same problem of having to bend the float arm to get a realistic reading.

Mechanical ones aren't damped so the needle can swing around like mad. I've always reconed that if the guage on a buggy doesn't show 1/4 full when the bloody thing runs out miles from a garage then it IS accurate...
